The GMC Yukon XL is one of the largest SUVs on the market, and it could be a great option for many households, too. The Yukon XL, like its name implies, is a full-size SUV, and that also makes it very capable as well. In addition to its size though, it also features a respectably smooth ride.

What’s great about the 2020 GMC Yukon XL

Like Kelley Blue Book wrote, despite minimal changes for the 2020 model year, the Yukon XL still has a lot of great features to offer customers. Off the bat, it’s a massive SUV, and it can carry up to nine passengers very comfortably. For example, Kelley Blue Book said that, when compared to the regular Yukon, the Yukon XL has about 10-inches more legroom in its third-row seats. 

This spaciousness also applies to its cargo capacity, too. Without folding its seats down, the Yukon XL has about 39 cu. ft. of cargo space, according to Kelley Blue Book. In comparison, the regular Yukon only has about 15 cu. ft. of cargo space. 

While the Yukon XL has many features that differentiate it from the regular Yukon, they both share a lot of great features, too. For example, the Yukon XL, just like the regular Yukon, comes standard with a tri-zone automatic climate control system.

Additionally, it’ll also come standard with an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system as well as a powerful 5.3-liter V8 engine that gets 355 hp. 

The 2020 GMC Yukon XL also has a comfortable ride

Another great thing about this SUV, according to Kelley Blue Book, was the fact that, despite being such a large SUV, it actually has a very comfortable ride. Kelley Blue Book said that the Yukon XL “exhibits fine road manners.” On top of that, Kelley Blue Book also said that the Yukon XL feels like it can handle off-roading just fine. 

If customers are skeptical about this, Kelley Blue Book also said that GMC offers an optional adaptive suspension that’ll improve the Yukon XL’s ride even more. This great ride quality, when combined with the Yukon XL’s large and luscious interior, allows it to be a very comfortable SUV to drive around in, according to Kelley Blue Book. 

However, GMC offers a lot of options, and the Denali trim is one of the most popular high-class trims that GMC offers. The Denali trim will spruce up the interior of the Yukon XL even more, which would make it an even more comfortable SUV. That said, a GMC Yukon Denali XL would start at over $70,000, so it’s a pricey SUV to say the least.

It’s not all perfect

But, Kelley Blue Book did mention several issues that the Yukon XL has. A standard Yukon XL without any options will cost well over $50,000, and, due to its size and its engine, the Yukon XL will only get about 18 MPG combined. 

While customers are certainly paying a premium for the size, Kelley Blue Book wrote that other automakers have large SUVs that can seat a lot of people while still being more affordable than the Yukon XL is. On top of that, even at the same price point, other automakers have the Yukon XL beat in other areas. 

For instance, Kelley Blue Book said that the Yukon XL can tow up to 8,000-pounds. However, the Ford Expedition, which is a comparable full-size SUV that costs about the same, can tow more than that. Additionally, Kelley Blue Book said that the Expedition also has fresher features, which simply make it a better choice for some customers.
