The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is an excellent way to carry up to eight passengers. Like its corporate cousin, the Kia Telluride, the Hyundai Palisade is an all-new SUV for 2020. These two SUVs have many similarities, but the Palisade has a bolder sense of style. If you are gravitating more toward the Palisade, you’ll see that the Limited trim is hard to pass over.

The Hyundai Palisade Limited is luxury-focused 

Palisade owners love their SUVs. The only major regret we’ve seen among some Palisade owners is that they didn’t opt for the Limited trim level. The Limited version is the highest trim level available on the Palisade. And while the Limited is over $13K higher than the base SE trim, the luxurious features make it worthwhile. It can even rival real luxury models like the Volvo XC90.

The Palisade Limited comes standard with Nappa leather and soft-surface trimmings. There’s plenty of tech features too. The Limited version comes with heated and ventilated seats on the first two rows and a robust infotainment system. Desirable features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all Palisades, but the Limited version has an upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound system.

All Palisades comes with a ton of advanced safety features such as forward-collision warning and pedestrian detection. However, the Limited version comes with additional features, including a blind-spot monitor view system. This trim offers a handy parking distance warning system and a highway driving assist function too. 

Overall, the Palisade is spacious and comfortable. Interior-wise, the Palisade also earns points for its quiet cabin. Although, you should know that the Limited trim configuration seats up to seven, not eight like the base model does.

Driving the Palisade

The Palisade gets its power from a 291-hp, 3.8-liter V6 engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination makes for a responsive and smooth ride. Front-wheel drive comes standard on the Palisade, but it is worth upgrading to all-wheel-drive for more road control. 

The only real complaint from experts like Consumer Reports is that the Palisade lacks agility. Even so, most drivers will be satisfied with the SUV’s power and acceleration. The Palisade can go from 0-to-60 mph in 7.1 seconds, which is marginally faster than the Telluride. As far as fuel-efficiency goes, the Palisade is average. It can get up to a combined 21 mpg.

Safety and reliability ratings

What makes the Palisade an even more well-rounded vehicle is its excellent safety ratings. The NHTSA gave it a five-star crash-test safety rating. The IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick+, its highest honor. 

Since the Palisade is a newer model, there is no detailed data available on its long-term reliability. Consumer Reports gave the SUV an above-average predicted reliability rating based on its testing across 17 potential vehicle trouble spots. You should also know that the NHTSA recalled the Palisade once for its airbags, but it’s still a great option.
