The luxury car brand Infiniti is all over the place right now. Unfortunately, Infiniti has fallen off over the last few years, mostly because this carmaker has struggled to compete with both legacy brands and newcomers in the luxury realm. Take Infiniti’s 2020 Q60 coupe for example. It’s a gorgeous model and arguably the most attractive model in its class. Still, it leaves much to be desired.

The best thing about the 2020 Q60 is its looks

It’s pretty safe to say that the 2020 Q60 is one of the sexiest and most affordable luxury cars on the market right now. This coupe was born after Infiniti decided to take its Q50 sedan and sever its passenger doors. In 2020, the Q60 is the perfect blend of curvy and sleek, plus its updated bumpers make it look even bolder.  Car and Driver particularly loves the Q60’s roofline arcs and its broad shoulder structure. Judging by looks alone, you might think the 2020 Q60 is the model yet.

To be fair, the Q60 attractive experience is matched with satisfying performance. It’s a gentle ride that features two 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine variants. The base model has a 300-horsepower and the Red Sport trim features a 400-horsepower. 

This coupe is charming and flawed 

Looks aside, the Q60 is just OK.  This coupe might fare better in its class if it weren’t for stronger model lineups like BMW 4-series and the Audi A5. The BMW 4-series, for example, offers better handling and trunk cargo space.

The disappointment starts literally as you are getting inside the Q60. Coupes aren’t usually the easiest models to get in and out of, but even so, some might find it particularly challenging to get into the Q60. Most adults won’t be happy as they are getting into the coupe’s rear-seats and they’ll be even unhappier once they actually sit in them. The Q60 is pretty generous on legroom but headspace is lacking, especially in the back row. This coupe also misses the mark when it comes to infotainment. 

Infiniti’s infotainment technology is actually one of the worst out there. The Q60 comes with many desirable infotainment features including a six-speaker stereo, dual-screen display system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, satellite radio. Other available features are a wifi hotspot and navigation. While the Q60’s infotainment system is set up nicely, it’s not user-friendly at all. It may take some time to get used to all of the controls. 

The Q60 is below-average when it comes to reliability 

Infiniti’s parent company Nissan has recalled the Q60 for a variety of reasons over the last few years. In 2017, the Q60 was recalled because of a potential issue with its electrical system. The 2018 and 2019 models were recalled for a problem related to their back-up camera displays. And in 2020, the Q60 was recalled because of issues with its rear-seat seatbelts. Because of this, Consumer Reports and J.D. Power have given the 2020 Q60 a below-average reliability rating. It’s also worth mentioning that the Q60 hasn’t been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
