Luxury SUVs can be costly, but many people seem to enjoy buying them. These vehicles are usually ultra-comfortable, with lots of convenience features to make driving or riding in it easier. However, they don’t always have the space to stretch out and store plenty of items in. The Infiniti QX60 is the exception to that. It offers more than enough room in the cargo area and in its interior. 

U.S. News compiled a list of luxury SUVs that have the most cargo space. The Infiniti QX60 has the largest cargo area of any on the list, and they explain how much room you can expect to get if you choose to purchase one. 

How roomy is the Infiniti QX60?

The Infiniti QX60 has one of the largest cargo spaces in the class. Behind the third row, you have 16 cubic feet of space to store plenty of items in. If you fold down the very back seats, you can gain approximately 24.5 cubic feet of space. For storage of longer items, you could fold down the second row and gain another 35 cubic feet. 

But this SUV has more to it than just the cargo area. The QX60 seats up to seven passengers with three-row seating. The first two rows of seats offer a decent amount of legroom, but the rear seat might be a little cramped for full-sized adults. Younger children shouldn’t have too much problem in the third-row seats. 

Getting in and out of the vehicle isn’t bad, but accessing the third-row seats is quite easy. All you have to do is slide the second row of seats and you can slip right in. No having to flip the second-row seat forward and climbing through, which is sometimes difficult for some people. 

What else does it offer?

For a base price of $44,350, this SUV offers quite a bit. Under the hood is a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 295 hp. Paired with it is a continuously variable automatic transmission that shifts gears smoothly and offers enough power to accelerate with ease. 

Fuel economy is just a little bit better than others in this class. When driving in the city, the Infiniti QX60 gets around 20 mpg. When traveling on the highway, it can get about 27 mpg for front-wheel drive. For the all-wheel-drive version, you’ll find this Infiniti gets around 1 mpg less in the city and highway. 

Standard equipment on the base version has some of the more common features SUVs come with. You’ll get blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, and even pedestrian detection.

If you’re looking for more, there is a nice amount of features to choose from. Those include reverse automatic braking, lane departure warning, moving object detection, active trace control, and adaptive cruise control to name just a few of them. 

There are only two trim levels to choose from. One is the Pure trim, and the other is Luxe. The Pure comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite and HD radio, push-button start, power-adjustable front seats, alloy wheels, and eight USB ports. You can also get tri-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and synthetic leather seats. 

The Luxe comes with a premium 13 speaker Bose stereo, remote start, and an entry/exit assist feature for the driver’s front seat. The Luxe price starts at $46,150. If you want more, you can add one of four different packages, which can cost an extra $2,000 to $3,000.

How does it compare with its rivals?

One of the biggest competitors of the Infiniti QX60 is the Acura MDX. According to U.S. News, these two are pretty neck and neck. The QX60 does offer more room in the cargo area, but the Acura outperforms with its handling and it also offers a bit more in technology. Overall, though, they both are pretty close with the QX60 moving ahead slightly from the MDX with really good reliability ratings. 

Another competitor, the Nissan Pathfinder, isn’t quite as luxurious as the QX60, but it surprisingly holds up well with it. If you choose a top tier trim of the Pathfinder, you can actually get more features than what’s offered for the base trim in the QX60. Plus, the Nissan costs almost the same as the Infiniti QX60’s base model. The lower trims cost much less than the QX60.

The Infiniti QX60 isn’t a bad choice if you’re looking for a high-end luxury vehicle with decent cargo room and interior space. Of course, that’s if you can budget for the higher price tag this vehicle comes with.
