Does your 2020 Jeep Gladiator pull to the left and right? Is it difficult to keep your Jeep Gladiator straight at higher speeds? Well, you aren’t alone. Drivers have been discovering a major steering problem with the Gladiator. 

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator has a steering problem 

Now, of course, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator won’t drive like a car. It will feel a little stiffer and heavier, like other midsize trucks. However, if you feel like something is off, the 2020 Gladiator is prone to steering issues. 

On Car Complaints, where owners of vehicles post the problems they face, there are 128 complaints, and 78 of those complaints are about steering issues. So, 50% of the complaints are about the steering. 

Drivers shared that the steering is loose, and they couldn’t drive their Gladiator straight. One driver constantly had to adjust their truck from side to side to keep it in their lane. Another driver found a massive dead zone in the steering wheel. 

Other drivers noted that the Gladiator sways at speeds as low as 35 mph, but the problem increases at higher speeds. Some drivers felt like their truck was continually pulling to the left and others complained of constantly correcting the wheel. 

Did Jeep solve this problem? 

Maybe. There was a 2020 Jeep Gladiator service bulletin released that acknowledges the issue, but there hasn’t been a recall to correct the problem yet.

The bulletin addresses if the Jeep Gladiator steering wanders and if the lead tires pull to the right or left. However, this service bulletin repair will not correct sustained steering shakes, shimmy, or vibration. 

If you describe steering wandering or that your truck pulls to the right or left, technicians, will diagnose the issues by scanning your Gladiator. If the Diagnostic Trouble Codes pull up unrelated symptom conditions, they will have to be fixed before the steering problems are addressed. 

Part of the fix includes replacing the steering gear. The steering gear frame bolts and I-shaft pinch bolt will need to be replaced. Also, the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) software will need to be updated. 

If your 2020 Jeep Gladiator is still under warranty, then you will be reimbursed for this repair. So, you will pay upfront for the repairs then be reimbursed later. If you are outside of the warranty, then you may have to pay for the repairs yourself. 

Does the Jeep Gladiator have a good warranty? 

The Jeep Gladiator has a basic warranty. It’s covered for the first three years of ownership or the first 36,000 miles. The powertrain warranty extends to the first five years of ownership or the first 100,000 miles. 

The powertrain warranty protects parts and labor for the engine components, transmission, axle, and more. The basic warranty costs the cost of repairs for most of your vehicle, including the cost of parts and labor due to defective materials, workmanship, or factory preparation. 

So hopefully, if you’re facing steering problems, the repairs will be covered. There are no complaints of steering issues for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator yet. However, there hasn’t been much time for the 2021 miles to accrue a lot of miles.
