The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Is The Absolute Worst SUV
The U.S. News has ranked the 2020 Jeep Wrangler as the worst subcompact SUV you can buy. It’s at the bottom in 16th place for now.
It doesn’t have an official rating yet, as its safety is still being evaluated, but as you already know, Jeep Wranglers usually aren’t very safe. Let’s take a look at why the Jeep Wrangler is in last place.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Is The Worst Compact SUV
The Jeep Wrangler scores incredibly low against its SUV rivals for a multitude of reasons. One of which being it’s low-reliability rating.
J.D. Power gave the Jeep Wrangler a two out of five score for predicted reliability. Meaning for this expensive option, which starts around $28k, you could run into some costly problems reasonably quickly.
Plus, Jeep Wranglers can be expensive to insure as off-roading beasts. So, that may add to the price tag. Hopefully, if your Wrangler breaks, your coverage will quickly take care of it.
It’s important to note that the J.D. Power score comes from real people who have purchased the Jeep Wrangler themselves. So the poor quality and reliability rating comes from drivers that personally tested the 2020 Wrangler.
Poor Fuel Economy
The Jeep Wrangler also is scoring low for its pathetic fuel economy. However, people don’t buy Jeep Wranglers to save on gas, and the upcoming Hybrid model will be a significant improvement.
That being said, you may want to pass on the 2020 model and wait for the Hybrid Jeep Wrangler to come out.
Anyways, the 2020 Wrangler gets an average of up to 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Most of its rivals get around 28 to 29 mpg in the city and at least 30 mpg on the highway. But it’s opponents aren’t capable of off-roading like the Wrangler and most do not have a diesel engine option.
A Stiff And Loud Ride
Drivers are finding the 2020 Jeep Wrangler to be unpleasant to drive on the pavement, making it a questionable choice as a daily driver.
The Wrangler has a stiff suspension that causes it to bounce and shake every time you go over a slight bump or pothole.
Plus, it’s sizeable boxy shape is lacking in aerodynamics. At higher speeds, the Wrangler is known for sway, especially on the highway.
That means you always have to turn and adjust the steering wheel to stay in your own lane.
The Jeep Wrangler wasn’t built to be quiet. Instead, it has a thin frame to be lightweight with doors and a roof that can be removed.
You can hear the loud, powerful engine as you drive. The cab is also filled with loud headwinds at higher speeds.
The noisy interior makes it difficult to hear the radio or carry on a conversation across the front and back seats.
If you want a quieter interior, then go with a hard top Jeep Wrangler instead of one with a soft top. But keep in mind that the hardtop is much more difficult to remove if you want to go topless.
