The 2020 Lincoln Navigator Is One of the Most Peaceful SUVs You Can Buy
One of the marks of a quality luxury vehicle is a peaceful and serene cabin space. While not everyone agrees, you may prefer to hear quiet when driving rather than the roar of the engine. If that’s the case, then U.S. News has a helpful list of the quietest vehicles. The list includes five SUVs, and the 2020 Lincoln Navigator is one of the most peaceful SUVs.
The quietest vehicles
The list of the quietest vehicles is based on the suggestions of the professional test drivers whose opinions U.S. News bases its reviews on. Many of the vehicles on the list are either new models or have been redesigned recently, giving designers a fresh opportunity to reduce noise in the cabin.
A redesign allows manufacturers to add new technologies and materials, like electronic noise cancellation, sound-deadening insulation, and acoustic glass. It also allows for the exterior to be adjusted to find a body shape and tire options that reduce wind noise and drag.
Many of the vehicles on the list from U.S. News have high interior scores since a quiet cabin is part of that score. However, the score also includes how comfortable the seats are, whether materials are of high quality, and how much cargo and passenger space there is.
The Lincoln Navigator’s quiet cabin
The Lincoln Navigator was fully redesigned for 2018 and currently comes in first on U.S. News’ list of the best luxury large SUVs for 2020. The SUV includes laminated front and side glass as well as active noise control. The engine stays quiet even at high speeds, and the tri-zone automatic climate control even has quiet fans. With these features, Lincoln now says the 2020 Navigator is its quietest SUV ever.
The 2020 Lincoln Navigator has an overall score from U.S. News of 8.8 out of 10. Its interior score is even higher, with a score of 8.9 out of 10. It has a starting price of $76,185.
The 2020 Lincoln Navigator
In addition to its quiet interior, the 2020 Lincoln Navigator has other luxury features that contribute to its peaceful feel. U.S. News even describes the Navigator’s interior as “opulent” and “lavish.” There are plenty of high-quality and soft-touch materials.
For 2020, the Navigator now comes standard with wireless charging and ventilated front seats as well as the Co-Pilot360 suite of safety features. The safety features include forward collision warning, emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist.
Its three rows have seating for seven or eight people. The seats are comfortable, and all three rows have plenty of space for adults. The front seats come with 10-way power adjustments, but 24- or 30-way power adjustments are also available as are massaging seats.
The Navigator has a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with navigation, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six USB ports. It includes a 14-speaker stereo, but a 20-speaker system is available. A rear-seat entertainment system and a panoramic sunroof are also available options.
The 2020 Navigator has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with plenty of power at 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It has good towing abilities, with an 8,700-pound max towing capacity, and fair fuel efficiency as well.
Other quiet 2020 SUVs
The 2020 Lincoln Navigator isn’t the only quiet SUV available, although it is the only large SUV on the list. Other SUVs with really quiet interiors include three midsize models: the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, the 2020 Buick Enclave, and the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE. Among compact SUVs, the 2020 Honda CR-V made the list too.
If you’re interested in having a peaceful and quiet drive in your SUV, then the 2020 Lincoln Navigator may be the best choice for you.
