The 2020 Nissan Titan Is Beautiful in Its Simplicity

For some truck lovers, there are only three options on the market, the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado, or the Ram 1500. However, Nissan wants to break into the American truck market, and it’s doing that with the Titan. Here’s a look at why the Nissan Titan, just like the Nissan Frontier, is a beautifully simple truck.

What’s new with the 2020 Nissan Titan

For the 2020 Titan, Nissan decided to do a little refresh on the truck, according to Carfax. The automaker decided to make some changes to the Titan, and those changes include some additions to the truck as well as some subtractions. For example, Carfax said that Nissan has changed the Titan’s styling, among other things.

Furthermore, Nissan also upgraded the Titan’s transmission and engine. The Titan’s standard 5.6-liter V8 engine now gets about 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, and this is slightly more than the 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque that it got in the 2019 model year. Plus, Nissan has also decided to add more standard smart safety features to the Titan.

Carfax said that smart safety features such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning are standard on the Titan. That said, one thing that Nissan removed from the Titan was its diesel option. The Titan XD trim used to have a diesel engine option, but now all Titans will have the same V8 engine.

Is the loss of the diesel engine a bad thing?

As Carfax said, pretty much every single one of the Titan’s competitors has additional engine options. The number of engines available on a truck will vary by automaker, but usually speaking, companies like Ford or Chevy will offer a diesel engine and a more powerful V8 engine. Carfax didn’t like this decision from Nissan, and Carfax thought that the loss of the diesel engine option made the Titan less competitive than its peers.

Carfax also didn’t like the lack of cab configurations that Nissan offered, but, just like the Frontier showed, there’s a market for trucks that are simple and hassle-free. The Titan may not come with many options for customers to choose from, but its standard features are more than enough to get the job done.

For example, the Titan’s standard V8 allows it to carry about 1,700 lbs of cargo in its truck bed and tow about 9,400 lbs. While Ford and Chevy offer more powerful engines that can carry and tow more stuff, not everyone needs the most powerful engine available. The Titan’s engine is good enough for most people, and that means it’ll save its owner from any headaches over picking and choosing options.

The 2020 Nissan Titan is beautifully simple

On top of that, as Carfax said, the Nissan Titan now has a lot of standard smart safety features, and this means that Titan owners won’t have to add those features onto their truck. Some truck owners may not care about those features, but for people looking to use their truck as a family truck, those features are a pretty good idea.

Both of those things show just how simple Nissan is trying to make the Titan. It comes with pretty much everything most people will need, and this makes it a simple buying process. Of course, Nissan still offers some optional packages and premium trims, but by and large, the standard Titan is a pretty good truck for most people.

A lot of customers hate the car buying process since it’s more complicated than it needs to be. So, in the end, these changes are likely a good thing for the Titan and its owners.
