With trucks now some of the most popular vehicles out there, they come in many different flavors. There are still basic work trucks, but there are also some luxurious trucks available as well. With pricing sometimes climbing to $80,000, buyers should do their homework to find their perfect fit. U.S. News recently took a look at the 2020 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve and a number of other top truck trims to see how much they actually deliver.

The 2020 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve trim

The 2020 Nissan Titan earned an interior score of 7.2 out of 10 from U.S. News and an overall score of 7.4 out of 10. The top Platinum Reserve trim includes plenty of heating features, including heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, plus a heated, wood-grain steering wheel. This trim also has its own leather seats that have a quilted stitch pattern and are power-adjustable. The dashboard sports wood-grain accents and the gear shift is wrapped in leather.

Other features this trim offers are remote start, a power-sliding rear window, a trailer brake controller, and a Fender premium audio system. These features join ones already offered on the SL trim of the Titan: a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a surround-view parking camera, and power-folding outside mirrors. The 2020 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve trim has a price starting around $55,490.

Standard features on the 2020 Nissan Titan

The 2020 Nissan Titan is available with a king cab or a crew cab body style as well as in five trim levels. The highest two trims, including the Platinum Reserve, come only on the crew cab body. The crew cab body has a 5-foot, 7-inch bed, and the king cab body comes with a 6-foot, 7-inch bed.

The truck comes with many standard features across the trims. The 2020 model year Titan adds the Safety Shield 360 driver-assist features as standard. This includes driver alertness monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic emergency braking. Along with its long list of standard features, the 2020 Nissan Titan also has a higher starting price than its competitors.

It offers just one engine, a 5.6-liter V8 engine, generating 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, according to U.S. News. It enables the Nissan Titan to tow nearly 11,000 pounds and haul almost 2,500 pounds, a good amount but not class-leading. Rear-wheel drive is standard, although four-wheel drive is available.

It still falls short of the competition

While the Nissan Titan has a nice interior, it falls short of some of its competitors. It still has some hard plastics in the interior. The technology got a big update for 2020 model year. The truck has a standard 8-inch touchscreen or an optional 9-inch touchscreen. The previous model had a 7-inch display. The touchscreens look great and have excellent graphics, but the infotainment system could use a bit of an update. The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In addition to the infotainment system, the Titan also doesn’t quite measure up in its truck abilities. It has just one engine, while the Ford F-150 has six options. The F-150 also offers an 8-foot bed length. The Chevrolet Silverado comes in with a new fuel-efficient diesel engine, a more powerful V8 engine, and a nice infotainment system. Both the F-150 and Silverado can tow more than the Titan does too.

The 2020 Nissan Titan provides plenty of luxury in its Platinum Reserve. It also includes a lot of standard features and a powerful V8 engine. However, it still doesn’t measure up to the finishes, options, and strength of the Ford F-150 or the Chevy Silverado.
