One thing is for sure: the 2020 Nissan Titan certainly impressed one car expert.

What Kelley Blue Book really loves about the new 2020 Nissan Titan

With stagnant sales, Nissan overhauled the new 2020 Titan with much-needed updates. And those updates have certainly paid off. Kelley Blue Book reports that the 2020 Nissan Titan benefits greatly from “an improved powertrain, a more modern interior, better exterior styling, and abundant standard safety technology.”

Experts at KBB enjoyed the new, 9-speed automatic transmission and 400-hp engine that increased both power and stability. This power helps the 2020 Nissan Titan’s tow ratings to increase “by about 100 pounds across the board.” 

Behind the wheel, the Titan drives nicely and provides a “pleasurable experience.” KBB experts claim that the “engine is quiet and refined,” “even while towing.”

But that’s not all KBB loves about Nissan’s new Titan. The Titan comes with the best warranty in the segment and an impressive lineup of standard safety features under Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 system.

Every Titan comes standard with automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, lane-departure warning, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot warning system. Above the base trim, more safety features become standard, including a 360-degree camera and active cruise control.

Improved styling and more modern features help the 2020 Nissan Titan compete better than ever before. KBB applauds the “thoroughly revised interior,” which now comes standard with an 8-inch screen/infotainment system that’s easy to use and features Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. A larger, 9-inch screen is also available.

The Titan’s infotainment systems come standard with Nissan Connect as well, which allows the truck to receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates, as well as updated security/safety features. Improvements have even been made to the Titan’s seating comfort, which KBB now says “are all-day comfortable.”

Though KBB is impressed by the number of features that already come standard with the new Titan, there are even more available options. Available options on the 2020 Nissan Titan include a tow package, sunroof, utility package, heated rear seat, cargo lights, and rear bed-step.

Did KBB have anything negative to say about the new Titan?

KBB found very few cons with the new Titan. The 2020 Nissan Titan is simply “safer, more attractive and more technically up to date.” When compared to other base-model pickups in the segment, the Titan may still lag behind.

Towing capacity and engine availability of the Titan simply cannot compare to that of Nissan’s giant rivals. And when it comes to brand loyalty, it is hard for Nissan to compete with other truck makers like Ford and Chevrolet.

But other than a long wait until early 2020, KBB’s only other real complaint is the slight lack of headroom when equipped with the new, panoramic sunroof.

Do the other experts agree with KBB?

MotorTrend’s most recent review of the 2020 Nissan Titan is a distinct improvement over previous model years, claiming that Nissan’s improvements “bring it much closer to competing with segment leaders.” On the test drive, the experts enjoyed the smoother, smarter transmission and shorter rear-end, which helped the Titan to “jump off the line.”

And the shocked experts don’t stop there. While Consumer Reports gave the 2020 Nissan Titan an average overall score, it is ranked as the third-best, new full-sized pickup. On its road test, the new Nissan Titan impressed Consumer Reports experts with its “reasonable ride and handling” and “energetic V8.”
