Toyota makes some of the best trucks on the market. The Toyota Tundra is one of those great trucks, and there are many reasons why it’s such a popular and successful truck. Toyota also offers a lot of trims and options on the Tundra, but unfortunately, the Tundra 1794 Edition just isn’t worth it.

What is the Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition

As PickupTrucks wrote, the Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition is a special trim of the Tundra that commemorates the founding of the ranch in Texas that currently hosts the Toyota assembly plant where all Tundras are made. As a result, the Tundra 1794 Edition has a western theme, and this can be seen in the color choices that Toyota’s made with the truck.

For example, the leather upholstery has a saddle brown color to them, according to PickupTrucks. Furthermore, like many special trims, the 1794 Edition has its name engraved in several places of the Tundra. And, since the 1794 Edition is a premium trim, Toyota also puts chrome on a few locations of the truck. While most of the changes are visual, the 1794 Edition does have a few offerings that set it apart from a regular Tundra.

For example, the driver and passenger seats are fancier than usual as they are heated seats. The driver’s seat in particular is 12-way powered too. The 1794 Edition also comes with more smart safety features, which include front and rear parking sensors, as well as a blind spot monitoring system. In addition to those things, the 1794 Edition also comes with a premium audio system. The 1794 Edition starts at about $50,000.

The pros and cons of the Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition

As The Car Connection wrote, the Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition ultimately asks customers what they want in a truck. The 1794 Edition, just like the regular Tundra, is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine that gets 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. This allows it to tow over 10,000 lbs of cargo when it’s properly configured. As The Car Connection said, it could easily accelerate even when towing stuff, too.

That said, the regular Tundra can do that too. However, The Car Connection had a more mixed reaction toward the 1794 Edition’s premium features. The Car Connection said that the premium seats that Toyota put into the truck were great; however, the infotainment system was hard to use, and the chrome wheels looked and felt cheap.

At the same time though, The Car Connection said that the 1794 Edition has issues that many other full-size pickup trucks have. The 1794 Edition wasn’t easy to handle, and, thanks to that big V8 engine, it was also not very fuel-efficient. But again, these issues are also present in the regular Tundra as well as in most other trucks.

Is the 1794 Edition worth it?

Since most of the changes are visual, you aren’t getting much by paying a premium. PickupTrucks said that the regular Toyota Tundra costs about $33,000, so to get the 1794 Edition, you’d need to pay $17,000 extra.

Plus, the 1794 Edition isn’t that great compared to similar trims from competing trucks. For example, Ram recently unveiled the Ram 1500 Southwest Edition, which is a special trim of the Ram 1500 that’s also been tailored with a western look.

The Ram 1500 Southwest Edition costs about $47,000, and it’s more capable than the 1794 Edition is. That said, the Ram 1500 Southwest Edition is only available in four states, so not everyone can have one.

Unless you really like the design of the 1794 Edition, it doesn’t really seem worth the price. Most of its best features are present in the regular Tundra anyway.
