The 2021 Audi A8 Is the Epitome of Full-Size Luxury
Besides being a sedan, the 2021 Audi A8 has something in common with the Tesla Model 3 and the Honda Accord. All three of these cars were recently ranked as being the best in class, and there were good reasons for it. Here’s a look at why the 2021 Audi A8 is the best full-size luxury sedan on the market today.
The 2021 Audi A8 is the best full-size luxury sedan
Like Motor Trend wrote, out of all the other full-size luxury sedans on the market, the A8 was the best. While the full-size luxury sedan segment isn’t the biggest segment, it is a highly competitive one as each car is selling for tens of thousands of dollars. And of course, Audi is also competing with popular luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.
But, as Motor Trend said, overall, the A8 was simply the better car. It bested cars like the BMW 7-Series, the Genesis G90, and the Lexus LS, among others. Since these sedans are so valuable, automakers have spent a lot of time perfecting these cars, but the A8 came out ahead, according to Motor Trend.
Overall, the A8 got a score of 8.3 out of 10, while the G90 came in at second place with a score of 7.9 out of 10. Other cars in the segment had slightly worse scores than the G90, and as a result, the review declared that the A8 was the best full-size luxury sedan.
The 2021 Audi A8 is a very modern car
With a base price tag of over $87,000, the A8 obviously comes with quite a few features. It’s why Motor Trend said that it was a “technological powerhouse.” For example, in the full review of the A8, the reviewer said that the A8 had “several feet of digital display space” as well as “an incredible sound system.”
While the review did warn that the A8 didn’t come with that many smart safety features, overall, Motor Trend was impressed by how advanced the A8 was. For example, the site claimed that the A8 had “active anti-roll bars” that will activate just before the A8 crashes into anything so that it can handle the impact better.
The A8 also had innovative technologies outside of its interior, too. For instance, the A8 comes standard with an air suspension system, and every single engine option on the A8 uses hybrid technology to an extent.
Power and comfort are standard on this luxury sedan
Since it’s an Audi, the 2021 A8 is also a very fast and sporty car. Its standard engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid V6 that gets about 335-hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
There are several other engine options available, including a regular plug-in hybrid version. The most powerful option is a hybridized twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, and this engine gets 563-hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Depending on the engine choice, the A8 can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in anywhere between 3.8 seconds to 5.3 seconds. Due to those great specs, reviewers were left impressed by how fast the A8 was. However, Motor Trend did point out that the A8 wasn’t particularly exciting to drive, despite its quickness.
While the new A8 might not have it all, it is still one of the most luxurious and well-rounded luxury sedans on the market.
