There are plenty of great options to choose from when it comes to shopping for a new SUV. Among them? The 2021 Cadillac XT6 and the 2021 Volvo XC90. Both models are similar in price and offer a long list of sought after features. But is one better than the other? Find out how the 2021 Cadillac XT6 and the 2021 Volvo XC90 compare here.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 is available as a plug-in hybrid

The 2021 Volvo XC90 is a lavishly appointed SUV. Powered by a 250-hp engine and available with all-wheel drive, the 2021 Volvo XC90 is the kind of SUV that can be had just about any way that you want it. Even if it’s a hybrid SUV that you’re after.

Of course, the XC90 has more to offer than powerful mechanics and a gas-sipping engine. Settle into the driver’s seat and enjoy the finer things in life while behind the wheel of this SUV. Leather upholstery makes for a comfortable driving experience, while premium features like a high-performance audio system aim to make your time in the driver’s seat as pleasurable as possible.

And when it comes to keeping you and yours protected? This Volvo comes stocked with all of the safety features you need to take on the road ahead with absolute confidence. Don’t just take our word for it, either. Last year’s model, the 2020 Volvo XC90, was tapped by the IIHS as a Top Safety Pick+, which bodes quite well for the 2021 model.

Comfort comes first in the 2021 Cadillac XT6

Designed to fill the gap between the Cadillac XT5 and the Escalade, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 offers up seating for seven passengers and comes standard with sought after features like heated front seats and a rear power liftgate. That’s not all this SUV has to offer, though.

At the heart of it is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of churning out 237-hp. Those who want more power under the hood look to the XT6’s available 310-hp V6 engine. Also available with all-wheel drive, Kelley Blue Book says this SUV offers up both a “composed ride and responsive handling.”

Much like the 2020 Volvo XC90, last year’s XT6 was also recognized by the IIHS as a Top Safety Pick+. Though the organization has yet to put this year’s new model to the test, last year’s scores, along with the XT6’s many safety features, should provide you with plenty of confidence behind the wheel.

Which of these premium SUVs costs more?

These two SUVs are very similar in price. While the Volvo XC90 starts at $49,000, $47,995 will get you into the base trim XT6. However, you will notice that as you climb trim levels, the XC90 becomes more expensive than the Cadillac XT6 pretty quickly. Though, a higher price tag will get you added features in the XC90.

The differences between these two models

Each of these SUVs has a lot to offer. When it comes down to it, though, there are some differences between the two. First off, the Volvo XC90 offers a hybrid option. Unfortunately for XT6 shoppers, there is no hybrid option available.

Unlike the Cadillac XT6, the Volvo XC90 also offers greater towing capacity. And, while you may not plan on towing, it is good to know just how much each of these SUVs can tow. The 2021 Volvo XC90 also offers more cargo space than its Cadillac competition, though the XT6 does offer up a bit more room for passengers.

Choosing the best SUV for your daily driving needs

Choosing between these two options is tough. Both have plenty of features to offer and are priced similarly. In the end, picking between these two options is going to require a test drive.
