The 2021 Ford EcoSport Doesn’t Have Much Going for It
With the 2021 Ford EcoSport, the car giant was hoping to take the crossover market by storm. It had the brand name and the promise that it delivered something unique to the driver.
However, after reviewing the car and weighing its benefits with its faults, many gearheads were disappointed with Ford’s latest offering. Over at The Car Connection, they were downright disappointed, too.
What is the 2021 Ford EcoSport?
A small crossover, Ford hoped that its latest model’s size combined with the power that it promises would take the car world by storm. According to Ford Authority, it is a relatively new model.
The EcoSport first premiered in 2018 and has tried to improve its core with every model. It comes in four models, the S, SE, SES, and Titanium. Inside, the EcoSport boasts a turbocharged 1.0 liter EcoBoost I-4, as well as a 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
The EcoSport has anywhere from 123 to 166 hp. Changing up its visual options, Ford took out the blue candy metallic and Canyon Ridge paints in favor of a standard blue and luxe yellow option. On top of that, it did away with the machined wheels from previous models in favor of a black or silver.
The interior, however, offers minimal in terms of comfort and features for the price.

Inside, Ford is hoping that a sleek design with minimal frills will be a saving grace. To appease the 2021 market, Ford did away with both the illuminated vanity mirrors and the illuminated glove compartment. With leather seats featuring the patented ActiveX Mini Perforations, the company is banking on the comfort as a sell for any interested drivers.
However, as far as safety goes, Ford didn’t give consumers much to work with, although the Co-Pilot 360 system that has become a staple that remains intact.
For those looking for entertainment while they drive, however, the car did little to change its standard SiriusXM option. The EcoSport comes in several packages, a wide variety of colors, and several other performance options. However, the $20,000 car is both affordable for its type, but according to those who have driven, it still comes up short in significant areas.
Critics simply aren’t sold on this Ford crossover
Echoing concerns of several other publications, The Car Connection was not a fan of the new Ford model, which he rewarded with just a 3.5 out of 10 in its review.
While they praised the ease of parking and the overall cargo space, they were mostly left disappointed by the motor giant’s latest offering. With minimal safety tech compared to other behemoths of the modern market, this could be a turn-off for anyone looking to take advantage of the current tech. Furthermore, for a company that recently had to recall one of its biggest sellers, this is a cause for concern.
On top of this, the Spartan base model leaves lots to be desired and pales compared to several of its biggest competitors. While Ford prides itself on having a cheap option out there, The Car Connection argues that it is affordable but too cheap for its $20,000 base price.
While Ford made the EcoSport with the people who do not want to spend excessive amounts in mind, it might have skimped on too much in the process.
Once somebody is willing to spend the type of money that the company wants for its new car, the product they get leaves little to be desired. For a few thousand dollars more, they can get a safe, affordable, and feature-rich vehicle without the same downfalls as the EcoSport. While there might be worse options out there, Ford appears to have dropped the ball with its latest offering.
