Your 2021 Ford F-150 may come with less! The Ford F-150 is dropping five features that you may or may not miss. However, you might be able to get them with the 2020 Ford F-150 if they are something you really want. 

The 2021 Ford F-150 dropped 5 features 

Thanks to Town and Country TV, we now know that the 2021 Ford F-150 is dropping five features from the 2020 F-150 model. They also mention that we probably won’t see a performance spec Ford Raptor until 2022. But let’s focus on what’s going away first. 

1. Inflatable rear safety belts 

The Ford-F150 inflatable seat belts are plugged into a canister that shoots air into another device to deploy an airbag. It expands about four times in size over the chest of the rear occupant. 

This safety feature is designed to protect children that are sitting in booster seats. In the event of a wreck, the safety belt gently opens so that the belt won’t cause collarbones to break and to prevent other accidents. 

2. Ford Sync 3 

Losing a safety feature is sad, but losing outdated technology isn’t. The Ford Sync 3 infotainment center is being replaced by the Ford Sync 4 system. The system is much faster, easier to use, and more. 

It will receive over the air updates. So, if there is a recall that requires reprogramming, it can be corrected without the need to head to a dealership. The system will also be on the new 8-inch vertical touchscreen, and you can upgrade to the 12-inch screen. 

3. The six-speed automatic transmission 

Say goodbye to the F-150 six-speed automatic transmission. It’s being phased out for the 2021 F-150 models. The 2021 Ford F-150 models will have a 10-speed automatic transmission with progressive range selection. But you might be able to find a base model F-150 that still has the six-speed transmission. 

4. The black-out emblems 

For the first time since 1903, in 2020, the F-150 chrome out with blacked-out emblems. It was the first time that the Ford oval wasn’t blue with chrome. The blacked-out versions looked great and were difficult for Town and Country to keep in stock.

5. A few color options 

The 2021 Ford F-150 is also dropping a few color options. Ford is dropping its classic magnetic gray color, and they are replacing it with a new shade of carbonized gray. The magnetic paint is a classic color that’s been around since 2015, so fans might miss it. 

Paints options for the 2021 F-150 include agate black, iconic silver, stone gray, oxford white, velocity blue, race red, rapid red, space white, antimatter blue, and guard. Guard looks like a dark shade of forest green. 

It seems like the feature that will be missed most is the inflatable safety belts for children. They certainly can provide peace of mind for parents on the road. Also, to get back to the 2020 Ford Raptor, it will most likely have a V8 engine!
