The 2021 Ford F-150 is Cheaper Than Expected
As new trucks continue to rise in price like the Nissan Frontier, Chevy Colorado, and more, the 2021 Ford F-150 is cheaper than expected. While the Ford F-150 used to try and undercut the Chevy Colorado prices, now it’s going after its newer, better rival, the Ram 1500. However, anything higher than the base model could quickly become extremely pricey.
How much does the 2021 Ford F-150 cost?
Once the Ford F-150 was revealed with tons of new bells and whistles such as the onboard generator, hybrid powertrain, seats for napping, workbench tailgate, and more, prices were expected to be through the roof.
However, Ford took a shot and the Ram 1500 by pricing the 2021 Ford F-150 base model around $30k. The 2020 Ram 1500 currently starts around $32k, and we are waiting to learn more about the 2021 model.

2021 Ford F-150 Pricing
The 2021 Ford F-150 base model will start around $30,065, and this price includes the destination fee, according to the dealer guide. This only increases the base model price by $195 from the 2020 model. This price is also about $500 more than the Chevy Silverado.
As per usual, the cheapest Ford F-150 will be the XL 2×4 regular cab model. So, that only has one row of seats in the front. The Ram 1500 2×5 work truck starts around $33k. The Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab begins around $42k, with a price increase of $290 for the 2020 model. Also, the 4×4 version adds $3,495 to the price, bringing the MSRP up to $45k.
With over 40 trims to choose from, you might get a headache trying to build your truck, but the 3.5-liter Powerboost Hybrid V6 engine is an exciting addition. Official numbers haven’t been released, but Ford suggests it could have a 700-mile range.
You can get the Ford F-150 hybrid powertrain for an additional $4,495, and you may also receive a one-time tax credit for purchasing this electrified truck. Upgrading to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine adds $3,300 to the price. The hybrid engine is $2,500 more than the 5.0-liter V8 and 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine options.
Is the 2021 Ford F-150 base model worth buying?
If you need a basic work truck, then the 2021 Ford F-150 base model will be a perfectly fine option to buy. However, keep in mind that it only has seating for three. Also, the 2020 Ford F-150 base model is pretty barebones.
The base model won’t have any of the bells and whistles if it’s like the 2020 option. The 2020 Ford F-150 base model doesn’t even have an infotainment center, so forget about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Also, it doesn’t come with many safety features like rear-cross safety alert, or pedestrian detection. Enjoy basic cloth seats, manually locking the doors, and more. To get the bells and whistles expect to pay about $40k or more depending on how much power you need.
