The 2021 Ford F-150 Outmuscles Rivals
The 2021 Ford F-150 out muscles the competition with stronger towing and payload capacities. It can out truck rivals even if it doesn’t have the best interior or ride quality. Check out how much stronger the Ford F-150 is.
The 2021 Ford F-150 is the best truck for towing
According to Truck Trend, the 2021 Ford F-150 is the best half-ton truck in multiple categories. They ranked the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2021 F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, Nissan Titan, and Ram 1500 to see which options excel in different areas.
The trucks were judged based on towing capacity, payload capacity, horsepower, torque, and EPA estimated fuel economy. The Ford F-150 won in two out of five categories when it comes to being stronger than the rest.
How much can the Ford F-150 tow?
The success of F-Series trucks continues for the 2021 F-150. It can tow up to 14,000 lbs when properly equipped. You need an F-150 with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and the SuperCab or SuperCrew cab with two-wheel drive to reach this figure.
If you get your F-150 with 4×4, then the maxim towing capacity drops by 100 lbs to 13,900 pounds. This is still a ton of power. The Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra can tow up to 13,000 lbs with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and four-wheel drive.
The Ford F-150 2021 model also has the best payload capacity. It can carry up to 3,325 lbs. This is with a regular can, long-bed, two-wheel drive, and 5.0-liter V8 engine. The ram 1500 landed in second place with the ability to carry up to 2,280 pounds with the Quad-Cab, long-bed, and 3.6-liter V6 engine?
What trucks are better than the Ford F-150?
We don’t want to say one truck is better than another option. They meet various needs to provide what truck owners need and don’t exactly stack up like apples to apples. But the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX did beat the F-150 in two areas.
The Ram 1500 TRX has more horsepower than the 2021 Ford F-150. But the TRX is a super truck, and the new Ford Raptor wasn’t included in this list, so it seems a little unfair. Anyway, the TRX has a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 hp. The Ford F-150 3.5-liter PowerBoost V6 Hybrid pumps out 430 hp.
Also, the TRX has more torque. The 6.2-liter V8 churns out 650 lb-ft of torque. The F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid provides 570 lb-ft of torque which is only 80 lb-ft behind the Ram TRX. The Ram 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 pumps out 480 lb-ft of torque, while the Ford 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 only has 440 lb-ft of torque.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid also has the best fuel economy when it comes to gasoline. But no other options have a hybrid variant yet. The F-150 Hybrid gets an EPA estimated 25 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
But how many miles does the Ford F-150 get per gallon? The gas-powered Ford models are also the most fuel-efficient options. None of the F-150 models have an EPA combined rating below 20 mpg.
But the Ram 1500 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 and Chevy Silverado 1500 3.0-liter Duramax I-6 diesel engines tie for the best diesel fuel economy. They get an EPA estimated 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
The Ford F-150 only offers the 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 with four-wheel drive. This makes trucks heavier and can bring their fuel economy down. The diesel F-150 only gets an EPA estimated 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
