The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor Is Making a Big Seating Change
Finally, months after the redesigned 2021 Ford F-150‘s release, new details about the Raptor trim have come out. The F-150 Raptor is one of America’s most beloved pickup truck’s priciest models, but with good reason. It comes with essential off-roading enhancements, extra technology, and plenty of power.
For 2021, Ford went to great lengths to make the Raptor more luxurious and functional than ever. That includes switching out the old seats for customizable, bolstered ones. Here’s what we know about the upcoming F-150 Raptor’s interior.
The Ford F-150’s much-needed seating change
The seats in the outgoing Ford F-150 aren’t uncomfortable, but they’re too cushy for support on long trips. Ford stepped up its game, adding patented Max Recline Seats in the F-150’s top trims, MotorTrend reports. These seats can be folded flat, similar to an adjustable bed.
The F-150 Raptor trim doesn’t get this option, but its leather seats come with supportive foam bolsters covered in cloth. You can also upgrade to suede covers for the bolstering, as well as Recaro bucket seats. These blue-leather seats sport orange accents and stitching.
Besides the Recaro seats, the interior is usually black with gray or bronze stitching. Upgraded interior options for the F-150 Raptor also include coined aluminum or carbon fiber accents. The base Raptor gets only brushed metal accents, but they still add refined flair to the cabin.
The Ford F-150 Raptor packs more features than before
The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor is not just luxurious; it’s also useful enough to warrant its high price tag. New Raptor owners will also get a fold-out work surface in the cabin. The large center console doubles as a small desk or table.
The 2022 Raptor will also boast a 2.0-kWh power generator, another new feature for the redesigned Ford F-150. It comes with four 120-volt outlets and one NEMA outlet. According to Ford, it’s handy for tailgating because it can power several electronics at once. It could also be vital in off-roading situations if you get stuck in the wilderness for a couple of days.
Every Ford F-150 Raptor comes with a 12-inch center touchscreen and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster. The system’s graphics are unique to the Raptor, and the upgraded navigation system displays real-time traffic information. Over-the-air (OTA) updates are available, which can provide trail-turning assistance.
A surround-view camera is also included, which will make off-roading safer. There are several USB ports and auxiliary switches, too, plus wireless smartphone integration.
Ford also added a few useful safety features to the Raptor this year, including hands-free highway driving and parking assistance.
Should you get a 2022 model?
The fancy interior will certainly attract some buyers, but Ford also put time into improving the F-150 Raptor’s performance. The standard twin-turbo V6 has a new induction system with a quiet-operation setting and an improved torque curve. A five-link rear suspension, providing better traction, speed, and handling, is also new this year.
A supercharged V8, capable of over 700 hp in the Ford Mustang, is also on tap for the F-150 Raptor, MotorTrend reports. And each model also has a better set of shocks, one for the 35-inch tires and another for the beefy 37-inchers. Ford also added two body frames to accommodate all the Raptor’s new equipment.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is still one of the most capable off-roading trucks. All of its new technology and upgraded seats sweeten the deal.
