Everything evolves over time. This is precisely the approach Ford has taken with the Mustang Mach-E. The automaker has ambitiously worked to take a piece of Americana and not just give it an update but make it eco-friendly. But just how effective has this process been? Many have heralded the Mach-E as the coolest EV on the market, keeping Ford competitive in the EV arena. However, reports have been mixed with the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E’s electric mile range.

Everyone knows a first impression is the most important, but a second impression can solidify an opinion. That’s why when Ford’s original estimate of a 300-mile range was undercut, it didn’t go unnoticed. Sources cited that there was speculation that the EPA-estimate would be 250 miles. This report cut the automaker off at the knees, dulling the luster of what the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E could have been.

However, now the EPA’s final verdict is in. Let’s take a closer look at what the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has to offer. And we’ll set the record straight at just how far this all-electric SUV can take you.

The experts weigh in on the EPA-Estimated Mile Range

You should always take manufacturer-estimated figures with a grain of salt. These figures aren’t always incorrect, but they are biased as the automaker wants the vehicle to seem as good as possible. That’s why it’s so important to have these numbers replicated by trustworthy sources like the EPA.

Ford announced via a press release that the EPA confirmed the 2021 Mustang Mach-E’s 300-mile total driving range. This revelation puts old rumors to bed, and it is creating more hype for the upcoming all-electric SUV.

However, buyers should know that this number comes with a caveat. Not all 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E models will achieve this figure. Those outfitted with the standard range pack and a rear-wheel-drive system have an EPA-estimated 230-mile driving range. If you sub in the available all-wheel-drive system, this number drops to 211 miles. To achieve the 300-mile figure, the SUV must use the available extended range pack and RWD.

Why the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is worth test driving

Ford is widely known for its power. From its stocky sports cars to its robust heavy-duty trucks, Ford is known to get the job done, and it has the ponies to get you to where you’re going. The American automaker has strived to carry this philosophy over to their electric vehicle division.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E comes standard with a RWD system and a standard range pack. This setup makes 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. However, this can be enhanced with the available extended range pack, helping the SUV deliver 290 hp. Meanwhile, the available AWD system bumps the torque output up to 428 lb-ft. Plus, this all-electric SUV can rocket from 0-60 MPH in just 5.2 seconds when equipped with AWD.

This innovative SUV doesn’t come cheap. The First Edition model has a starting MSRP of $58,300, while the entry-level Select trim starts at $42,895. However, Ford’s website notes that this model is eligible for a federal electric drive motor vehicle tax credit worth up to $7,500.

The final verdict

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is certainly an EV to keep an eye on. With its quick-charging capability, impressive mile range, and sleek design, this EV will be hard to ignore. With some saying Ford is giving Tesla a run for their money with the Mach-E, it would be shocking to see this model fail. If you’re looking for an EV with power, style, and impressive features, you would do well to keep the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E in your sights.
