The 2021 Ford Ranger Just Got Another Special Package
Ever since the Ford Ranger returned as a beefier midsize truck, it has continued to receive beefier upgrades. The 2021 Ford Ranger is no exception to this rule with items such as the off-roading tremor package. Now, the Ford Ranger XL is gaining the STX Special Edition Package.
What is the 2021 Ford Ranger STX Special Edition Package?
The 2021 Ford Ranger STX, Special Edition Package, brings advanced tech to the cheaper XL base model. It also adds some appearance extras to the Ford Ranger XL base model that were previously only available on the pricier XLT trim.
For $995, you can get the new STX package, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Ford Sync 3 software, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The package also has dual-zone climate control, silver-painted interior accents, privacy glass, a rear defroster, and 18-inch black-painted wheels. The standard touchscreen is about 4-inches.
To add the STX package, first, add the STX Appearance Package. Once you add the $995 kit, your base model Ford Ranger XL will begin around $29,240. The package is also available with SuperCab and SuperCrew models, and with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
According to CarandDriver, the base model Ford Ranger XL begins around $26,000, and the Ford Ranger XLT starts around $29,000. But the features included with the XLT model haven’t been revealed, so we aren’t sure if the XL model with the STX package is a good deal in comparison, yet.
What is the Ford Ranger Tremor Package?
The 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor Package transforms this truck into the most off-roading ready Ford Ranger ever offered in the U.S. The package is essentially a factory-built off-road kit that includes a set of Fox 2.0 monotube shocks.
The monotube shocks come with external reservoirs for enhanced cooling and a specially tuned set of front coil springs and rear leaf springs. Plus, the Ford Ranger Tremor rides on 17-inch black wheels wrapped in 32-inch Continental General Grabber all-terrain tires.
With this kit, the Ford Ranger gains some height with a ground clearance of 9.7-inches. This makes it competitive with the Jeep Gladiator, which has a ground clearance of 10-inches, even on the base model.
The Ford Ranger Tremor package provides 6.5-inches of extra suspension travel and 8.1-inches of wiggle room in the rear. The kit also includes red accents and blacked-out styling cues. You can add it to your truck for $4,290.
What else is new for the 2021 Ford Ranger?
For 2021, the Ford Ranger isn’t changing much. It will mostly be a carryover model as the new and refreshed Ford Ranger is expected to arrive in 2022. Order books for the 2021 Ford Ranger opened on September 24th, and production will begin on December 7th.
We can probably expect this truck to carry over its single engine option, a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that provides 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. There is also a new black appearance package, which includes black 18-wheels, a black grille, and black Ford oval badges. Other new colors include Cactus Gray, Carbonized Gray, Cyber Orange, and Velocity Blue.
