The 2021 Ford Raptor Fires Back With 725 Horsepower

Shots fired! The 2021 Ford Raptor is coming after the Ram 1500 TRX with more power. The Ram 1500 TRX may think it’s the king of Jurassic off-roading, but it might need to move over as the more powerful Ford Raptor emerges from the jungle.

The 2021 Ford Raptor V8 is coming

Unfortunately, we are going on Ford Raptor rumors for the time being, but this information still gets our blood pumping. While the truck industry seems to be downsizing with models like the Ford Maverick and Ram Dakota, the Ram 1500 TRX emerged as a full-size off-roading truck with 702 horsepower.

This was to compete against the second-generation Ford Raptor that came out in 2017 with a twin-turbo V6 engine. However, it only provides 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. That means you can’t say you have 702 HP in your truck like you can with the Ram 1500 TRX and its 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine.

But now, an anonymous source from Ford suggests that the 2021 Ford Raptor will be powered by the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that’s found in the Ford Mustang GT500.

In the GT500, the engine produces 760 horsepower, but in the heavier Ford Raptor, you can expect between 725 to 750 hp. This would be one sure-fire way to one-up the Ram 1500 TRX.

What else to expect for the 2021 Ford Raptor

Aside from a power boost, it’s difficult to expect what will come with the new Ford Raptor. It will most likely have suspension upgrades. Spy shots suggest that the Ford Raptor will have coil springs in the rear, which could provide room for a tighter exhaust system and higher ground clearance.

Spotting orange coils in the front hint at the continued use of electronically controlled Fox shock absorbers. They can sense when the truck is airborne to provide a smoother landing. Yes, you read that correctly. This truck can go airborne.

The design will probably be based on the 14th generation Ford F-150 and will come with a set of beastly off-roading tires. Raptor badging and sporty flair will also have to complete the model’s aggressive look. In terms of tech, we can look to the 2021 Ford Bronco for clues.

When will we learn more about the 2021 Ford Raptor

We hope that the Ford Mustang GT500 engine doesn’t drive the price up much. It currently starts around $55k while the 2020 Ford Raptor starts around $53k.

However, the Ram 1500 TRX starts around $70k, and the $93k launch edition model sold out of 702 units in three hours. This means that people are more than willing to put money down for a muscle truck.

But Ford is being incredibly quiet about the Ford Raptor at the moment. All they said is that the refreshed nameplate is coming soon. Hopefully, new information will be released as the camouflaged Ford Raptor has been spotted, and Ford confirmed the 2021 Raptor model.

Jeep has some significant announcements coming out on September 3rd, so maybe Ford will try to steal their attention by striking back with the 2021 Raptor.
