The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace Finally Fixes the Model’s Biggest Problem
The Jaguar F-Pace is the automaker’s best-selling vehicle, but its interior — particularly its infotainment system — hasn’t always been as luxurious as one might hope. That’s changing with the 2021 model year. With a total redesign that focuses heavily on the infotainment display, the new F-Pace might finally have a cabin that matches its price tag, MotorTrend reports.
The new Jaguar F-Pace’s redesigned infotainment system
Previous model years of the Jaguar F-Pace featured an outdated, poorly designed infotainment display that was placed in a recess by the dash. With the 2021 redesign, though, the automaker has made some big changes to this system.
The F-Pace now boasts an 11.4-inch touchscreen, which, according to MotorTrend, is similar to the Tesla Model Y in terms of technological prowess. The F-Pace’s new touchscreen floats above the dash and is designed with a small curve in order to reduce glare and make it easier to see the screen from multiple angles. The automaker has also reported that this new display is 48 percent larger and three times brighter than the display in previous model years.
In addition to this new touchscreen, the 2021 F-Pace’s infotainment technology has undergone a complete overhaul. It now comes with a system called Pivi Pro, which enables digital updates and allows drivers to connect two phones at the same time.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay both come standard, and buyers have the option of upgrading to a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that can pair with the infotainment display. Anyone with a particularly hectic schedule will be happy to hear that this system also syncs with Google Calendars and Microsoft Outlook in order to more easily manage appointments.
An array of other updates
The Jaguar F-Pace boasts quite a few other improvements to its cabin, which MotorTrend reviewers have been unimpressed with in previous years. New standard features include keyless entry and heated seats, and drivers can enjoy a redesigned center console and a new steering wheel. The 2021 F-Pace also comes standard with a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.
Additionally, the materials used in the F-Pace’s cabin are definitely designed to create a luxurious experience. Open-pore wood and soft-touch materials can be found in abundance. The new F-Pace even features a cabin air ionizer, which captures allergens and particulates to help keep the air fresher. All this, plus the road-noise cancellation that has been added to the 2021 model, combine to create a much more relaxing, comfortable ride experience.
The F-Pace’s improved powertrain options
Although the revamped cabin is definitely the star of the show, the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace also features some different powertrain options. All-wheel drive now comes standard on every trim. A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine is standard and makes 246 hp.
However, Jaguar has also introduced a brand new option: “mild-hybrid” technology that comes with all the higher trim 3.0-liter engines. If you want to go for a little extra power, the most impressive engine option makes 395 hp. However, even the less powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder makes a decent 335 hp.
According to MotorTrend, the F-Pace’s new powertrains set it up to hold its own against its rivals. Only time will tell if these upgrades will be enough to truly give the F-Pace a boost, but there’s no doubt that it has significantly improved upon the earlier model years.
With its beautiful new cabin, redesigned infotainment system, and range of powertrain options, the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace will likely have a pretty high price tag. However, if you’ve been on the lookout for a luxurious SUV, this one should absolutely be on your radar.
