The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Is Basically the Same
Are you excited for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler? Well, calm down. Not much has changed. It looks like the significant changes will be here by 2022. Until then, there are only incremental changes from the 2020 models.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Updates
While the Ford Bronco is expected to make waves in only a few days, Jeep seems to be playing the long game. Instead of making a 2021 Jeep Wrangler to distract people from the new Ford Bronco, they only gave 2021 models incremental changes.
Jeep Gladiator
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is getting two new colors, known as the snazzberry concept color and the hydro blue color. However, while Jeep is currently accepting orders for 2021 Jeeps, these fancy new shades may not appear on the order forms for a while.
2021 Jeep Wrangler Tech
One of the lower trims, the Jeep Wrangler Sport S, is getting a new technology package that used to be optional for $995. The package includes a 7” TFT screen with the digital cluster display and a 7” Uconnect infotainment center that can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The kit also comes with climate control and air filtering, along with a one-year subscription to Sirius XM.
Jeep Wranglers currently have 7” Uconnect infotainment centers will also get selectable tire fill alerts (STFA). As you fill your tires, the STFA honks the horn, letting you know that you’ve filled your tires to the correct amount.

That’s pretty neat and could save some time without you having to check the pressure manually. Also, the horn will honk three times if you overfill or underfill the tires.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will gain the front-facing camera from the Sahara that sits in the grille. The camera will display the front-facing view on the infotainment center, allowing drivers to see what obstacles lie ahead.
2021 Jeep Wrangler Performance
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler S is currently equipped with the Jeep Command-Trac 4X4 system that’s always in all-wheel-drive mode. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler S comes with the option to upgrade to the Selec-Trac 4X4 system that’s available on the Sahara and Sahara Altitude models.
The system can automatically switch between 2X2 and 4X4 according to traction needs. Also, the Rock-Trac 4X4 system that is exclusive to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will gain the ability to switch between 2WD and 4WD.
Plus, the Rubicon is getting Off-Road+ from the Jeep Gladiator. This system allows drivers to adjust the throttle response, traction control activation, and shift points during 4L modes for crawling and 4H modes for sand racing with the push of a button.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid model, will arrive as the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder eTorque is retired. This is when we will see more mechanical and interior updates with the Jeep Wrangler lineup.
If the Jeep Wrangler hybrid borrows technology from the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, then we can expect a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine. However, it will be heavily modified as the current system only has to power front-wheel drive in the van.
