There aren’t too many new minivans left for sale these days, but it’s still possible to find a few with luxurious options. Case in point: the top trim of the Kia Sedona. It boasts plenty of bells and whistles. Here’s a look at what the 2021 Kia Sedona SX trim has to offer.

The SX is the fanciest 2021 Kia Sedona trim

The SX is the 2021 Kia Sedona’s most luxurious trim level. The other two trims are the LX and EX, according to U.S. News. (The old base L trim was been dropped for the 2021 model year.) All the trim levels offer seating for up to eight people.

This minivan boasts good handling, but it doesn’t offer the roominess or fuel efficiency of other competing minivans. According to Kia, the Sedona gets 18 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined.

The 2021 Sedona SX, like the other trims, has a 276-hp, 3.3-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also has front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive isn’t an option, and neither is a hybrid powertrain.

The Kia Sedona SX’s interior

The 2021 Kia Sedona LX comes standard with cloth upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and Slide-n-Stow second-row seats. Though the second-row seats move, they can’t be removed or stored on the floor.

The EX trim upgrades to leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The SX trim offers extra comfort, with a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats. It also provides reclining second-row lounge chairs with footrests, according to Car and Driver.

Plus, the SX trim boasts a hands-free power liftgate, power sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, four-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and cooling glove box. And it offers a front-passenger chauffeur seat switch, letting the driver automatically move the passenger seat forward, making it easier for rear passengers to exit.

Most of these features can be added to the EX trim with the EX Premium package.

Technology in the Sedona SX

The 2021 Kia Sedona LX comes with a seven-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also has proximity keyless entry, a six-speaker sound system, a USB port, and Bluetooth. The EX trim adds satellite radio, two more USB ports, wireless device charging, and push-button start.

The Sedona SX offers a collection of luxury features. It upgrades to an eight-inch screen and a navigation system that includes traffic and weather updates. It also has an eight-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system.

On both the EX and SX trims, buyers can choose to add a rear-seat entertainment system with ten-inch touchscreens in the backs of the front-seat headrests.

Safety features in the Sedona SX

The Sedona comes standard with a rearview camera. The EX trim adds blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The SX trim tops the list with adaptive headlights, automatic high-beams, and a surround-view parking camera system. It also includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, and smart cruise control with stop and go. Many of these safety features can be added to the EX trim through the EX Premium package.

The 2021 Kia Sedona SX trim starts at $41,500, but it packs plenty of perks for the price. With a smooth ride, nice cabin, and user-friendly infotainment system, any trim level of the Sedona is pleasant. It also has a long warranty. However, it doesn’t lead the pack in fuel efficiency or third-row space. There’s an ultra-luxury version of the Sedona sold in Korea, the Kia Carnival Hi Limousine. According to Car and Driver, some of that vehicle’s features (and possibly the Carnival name) might appear on the 2022 Kia Sedona, making it an even more chichi minivan.
