The 2021 Kia Sorento Will Make You Forget About The Competition
Even though the Kia Sorento has the chops to outperform other mid-size SUV options, people hesitate with buying it due to its minivan look. Luckily the 2021 Kia Sorrento has been redesigned to have a better, more muscular look.
What To Expect With The 2021 Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento is officially saying goodbye to its old soft and curvy look. It’s transforming for its minivan looking past to have a boxier, more defined look to add confidence and muscle.
It has a creased hood, pointier nose, and thin LED headlights that are similar to what the Kia Seltos has. The Sorento will also have a lower, wider bumper for a dominant look.
The redesign was made possible by the fact that the 2021 Kia Sorento is being manufactured on an all-new platform, giving it more interior space as well. There is also room for a hybrid powertrain and a plug-in model is also expected.
2021 Kia Sorento Updates
The 2021 Kia Sorento is expected to hit the streets later in 2020, however, we do not know if the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak will delay production. But we can share what we do know.
A slight price increase is expected. The 2020 Kia Sorento starts around $26k but the new 2021 model will start around $28k. This increase in price isn’t bad considering the beefy updates that will be included.
The 2021 Kia Sorento will be faster, thanks to its 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 277 horsepower. The 2020 model’s most powerful engine option is the 3.3-liter V6 that pumps out 290 horsepower.
The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine pair with an electric motor is anticipated to produce 227 horsepower with the hybrid option.
2021 Kia Sorento Features
Along with a new, bold exterior look, the Kia Sorento is also receiving a total interior redesign as well.
Sneak peeks show a luxurious interior and dash that has an attractive two-tone design. Even the steering wheel pops with shades of black and beige.
Ambient lighting around the door panels and premium stitching on the leather seats and steering wheel really create a comfortable feel.
Plus, because the Kia Sorento is bigger, with an extra 1.4” added to the wheelbase, there is more room for massive, padded leather seats. Hopefully, the extra room will improve legroom and comfort in the second row of seats.
We can expect a 32% increase in cargo space. Also, the extra space in the wheelbase will also provide a smoother and quieter ride.
There is a 12.3” digital display cluster behind the steering wheel and a 10.3” infotainment center that shouldn’t be short on advanced technology.
In order to compete with other SUV options, the Kia Sorento is expected to at least come with current features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
No safety tests have been performed on the 2021 Kia Seltos yet, but it’s brother the Kia Telluride, can give us hints as to what to expect.
For example, the Kia Telluride is equipped with forward collision prevention, lane departure warnings, blind-spot monitoring, and more.
