Land Rover’s rugged SUVs draw many customers with each model they put out – some more than others. The Range Rover Evoque, one of the newest designs in their lineup, drew a lot of attention in 2020.  Now, a new year is coming out, and things may change. 

The 2021 Range Rover Evoque, however, could be a toss-up since it’s set to offer promising technology but is losing one of its favored features. MotorTrend explains what’s coming for the 2021 version and what’s leaving for good. 

What will the Range Rover Evoque gain in 2021?

The 2021 Range Rover Evoque model will receive one exciting upgrade for the vehicle’s infotainment system. Land Rover plans to install the new Pivi Pro touchscreen technology, the same one seen in the Jaguar Land Rover model. This unit promises to be much faster than the previous display the Evoque had, which really isn’t all that hard to do.

The system will be offered as standard equipment on all Range Rover Evoque models across the line. To take it even further, Land Rover will use the new electrical architecture that first appeared on the Defender. This will enable it to take on the new driver assistance features as well as convenience accessories Land Rover designed for the new model of the Range Rover Evoque. 

Those who purchase the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will be pleased to find two Qualcomm LTE data modems. One of them is dedicated specifically to the software updates sent over the air to the display system, and the other will handle the streaming of music and other apps. Running the processors on the screen is Snapdragon, which is designed to improve speed and touch sensitivity.

What will it lose?

While the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque gains a sweet infotainment system, it loses one item that most will sorely miss. The 2020 model featured a semi off-roading mild-hybrid version in the P300, but now that 2021 is rolling out and gearing up for a new year, Land Rover said goodbye to the mild-hybrid option. 

It did its duty, running on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that they paired with an electric motor and a 48-volt electric system. With the two engines combined, the total output for the P300 was 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Not bad for a hybrid vehicle. 

Land Rover claimed it dropped it from their lineup because it wanted to make deciding which trim level to buy easier for the customer. Land Rover is now offering a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drivetrain across the board. 

What else does the Range Rover Evoque come with?

The Range Rover Evoque comes with five trim levels under its belt. The base package S P250 comes at approximately $44,000. The range-topping model, the R-Dynamic HSE P250, begins at $54,000 MSRP. The only powertrain offered this year is a 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder that generates 246 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque.

Two new exterior body colors debut this year with Portofino Blue and Lantau Bronze. You’ll also find 18-inch wheels in gloss black with a five-spoke design adorning the center. There’s also the choice to upgrade to 21-inch wheels if you should decide you want something bigger. 

The interior gets a three-spoke steering wheel with touch switches. You’ll also get USB ports and satin chrome seat switches. For optional equipment, you can choose a wireless charging pad and satin chrome paddle shifters. 

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will please many with its new infotainment technology. However, many people will be disappointed to see the P300 mild-hybrid version disappear from the trim lineup in 2021.
