But if you can get past the shaky ride, Edmunds mentions that the cabin is very quiet. It provides a peaceful ride and a luxurious feel. However, the dual-zone climate control is a little weak, which could be problematic on warmer days.
The Mazda CX-30 interior is lacking
Another crucial factor for comfort includes the interior. It’s no secret that the 2021 Mazda CX-30 has a luxurious look and design that most critics love. But Cars.com shared that the noticeable cost-saving features include a cheap headliner and uncomfortable backseat.
The backseat is one of the tiniest ones in the segment. Tall adults will struggle to squeeze back there, and rear-facing car seats don’t fit very well. The seats also have a lower position, so drivers will have to settle for a lower driving height.
Edmunds shared that the CX-30 has padded and supportive seats in the front. However, the rear seats are noticeably lacking. Plus, the seats don’t fold flat, which compromises cargo space and makes it more difficult to load larger items.
Speaking of cargo space, it’s limited in the Mazda CX-30. The glove box and center armrests are the most useful cubbies. Also, the shape of the CX-30 makes it challenging to climb in and out of while the small rear window and thick rear pillar impede rear visibility.
Is the Mazda CX-30 worth buying?
Yes, even if space is limited and the ride quality could be improved, the 2021 Mazda CX-30 is still a great SUV option. It begins around $22,050, providing an economical option for younger adults who might not need the extra space for kids yet.
The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, which is adequate. When equipped with AWD, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.92 seconds, which is a little slow compared to rivals. But you can upgrade to the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine for 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.
The 8.8-inch infotainment screen isn’t a touchscreen. It’s powered by a control knob and buttons. This can make it easier for people to use, and it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
