The Mazda6 tends to stand out among the critics as an affordable and fun family sedan that thinks it belongs in a luxury class. The critics often discuss how this car merges sporty and fun driving dynamics with high-end, luxurious materials. New for the 2021 Mazda6, the popular four-door sedan, Mazda is surging ahead of its midsize sedan counterparts by adding yet another feature that most expect only from premium brands. It’s a functional addition that proves Mazda is always looking to step up its game and win over car buyers.

What’s this new feature that feels more like a luxury option?

According to Kelley Blue Book, the 2021 Mazda6 comes with connection compatibility for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as a standard additional across all trim levels. But that’s not the exciting part. The Mazda6 is now also offering Wireless Apple CarPlay, a feature more commonly listed among luxury sedan amenities.

Pairing your device without a physical USB connection may not sound entirely groundbreaking. But it’s a convenience extra not available in most models, yet tends to be familiar to Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and other luxury brands.

Other exciting enhancements for the 2021 Mazda6

The availability of Wireless Apple CarPlay is just one of a few key upgrades for the 2021 Mazda6. This year, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard across all trim levels. The wireless technology is optional at higher trims. The Carbon Edition is an exciting cosmetic update this year to the consumer popular Grand Touring Reserve trim level. And the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine option grew 10 lb-ft of torque, achieving an output of 320 lb-ft in total.

If you are considering a 2021 Mazda6, you’ll have plenty of options to customize your best amenities. In addition to the new Carbon Edition, there are five other trims from which to choose, including Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature.

Under the hood, you can harness plenty of pep with the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and you’ll enjoy the responsiveness of the six-speed automatic transmission on both engines. Tapping into the Mazda6’s Sport mode just makes being behind the wheel more fun.

With every pro, there is a con

Not every car is perfect, not even the Mazda6. The critics do point out a few setbacks or areas that competing models might do better. The Mazda6 is super-fun to drive for most, but the more robust engine options are only available at the higher trims and price points. The Mazda6 is also falling behind in offering an all-wheel-drive alternative or hybrid variations. Some even say despite being able to fit a set of golf clubs in the trunk, the cargo area is a tad smaller than the trunk space among rivals.

The Mazda6 continues to impress

Despite the few critiques, the Mazda6 continues to impress consumers and reviewers. The 2021 Mazda6 will bring a host of premium-level extras across the board. And with its “Zoom, Zoom” reputation for fun driving, for many, it too will outpace the likes of the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord.

This sedan embraces the latest tech-based enhancements, including Wireless Apple CarPlay and a user-friendly infotainment system. And consumers will enjoy added peace of mind knowing the Mazda6 earns five-star safety ratings with the NHTSA and Top Safety Pick honors from the IIHS.

The 2021 Mazda6 will be available with the Wireless Apple CarPlay, and it’s just another step Mazda takes in the luxury direction. Don’t try to tell the Mazda6 that it’s in a midsize sedan class, either. It’s a brand that continues to embrace high-quality refinement and marry those luxury features with thrilling performance, top-notch safety, and affordable price points.
