The 2021 Nissan Armada has received a total refresh for the new model year. And the results are astonishing. Using the same SUV platform as the Infiniti QX80, the all-new Armada has a redesigned front-end that’s sure to impress. It also boasts some much-needed changes inside.

As Nissan strives to stay competitive in a growing SUV field, the impressive updates will undoubtedly attract consumers looking for a larger vehicle. The upgrades and design style changes to the 2021 Nissan Armada‘s interior and exterior make this new full-size SUV a high-quality vehicle worth considering.

The 2021 Nissan Armada’s interior style updates

The 2021 Nissan Armada‘s interior stands out among rivals. A redesigned center stack and easy-to-use controls are impressive enhancements. Soft quilted leather with contrast stitching creates a plush, luxurious interior.

Other significant interior changes include the addition of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Standard features abound, including a Wi-Fi hotspot, onboard navigation, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Sporting a boxier look, the Nissan Armada also received exterior design changes, including a redesigned front-end. The V-Motion grille complements a newly styled hood and front bumpers. New LED headlights and taillights, along with a pronounced rear bumper, give the Nissan Armada a more rugged yet sophisticated appearance.

The new Nissan Armada’s safety features

The Nissan Armada has also stepped up its game in the safety department. Standard safety features now include forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Nissan refers to its enhanced safety protocol as the Safety Shield 360 Suite.

Pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and high-beam assist are now standard in the 2021 Nissan Armada. The Rear Door Alert system reminds drivers to check the backseat before leaving. Full-range cruise control and lane intervention assist the driver with more safety features than ever before.

The Armada’s 360-degree camera and Intelligent Rear View Mirror provide a high-resolution, wide-angle view. Drivers can toggle between front and rear views, with the front camera providing a full range look at what’s in front of this oversize SUV.

The double-edged sword to all of the Nissan Armada’s new safety systems is that they aren’t completely perfected yet. For instance, the steering wheel shows noticeable vibration when crossing lanes because of the lane departure warning system. The Armada’s sheer size keeps the vehicle creeping close to road lines, and the sensors activate frequently.

Because the Armada’s systems cannot be calibrated or adjusted for sensitivity, the driver will have to get used to the annoyance or turn the feature off. Either way, this feature won’t function as designed for maximum efficiency.

MotorTrend reported that the Armada’s lane intervention system has a similar problem: “It does basically nothing to keep you in the center of your lane, and it doesn’t ping-pong off the lane markers. All it seems to do is jerk the car violently back toward its lane if you veer too far out.”

What else you can expect from the 2021 model

As Nissan continues to upgrade the Armada to compete in a strong SUV segment, the features keep getting better. The free-standing infotainment system works in harmony with the redesigned center console. Sharp graphics, intuitive screen responses, and well-laid-out menus make the innovative Armada a top contender in its class.

Also, onboard navigation with Bluetooth capabilities is often found in only luxury models such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The 2021 Armada’s plethora of driver-assist modes proves Nissan built this SUV with safety and comfort in mind.

Overall, Roadshow says, “Nissan’s large-and-in-charge three-row SUV prioritizes comfort at every opportunity, yet it’s still plenty capable, too.”
