The 2021 Nissan Armada Is the First Nissan Ever to Feature This
Sometimes it’s time to throw out the old and rebrand yourself. Automakers are notorious for this, especially when sales aren’t going well. Because 2020 hasn’t been very kind to Nissan, the Japanese automaker has made the decision to shake things up by creating a new logo.
Given the fact that Nissan hasn’t done any major updates that would entice buyers, this is a step in the right direction. Since someone has to be first, Nissan has decided to use the 2021 Nissan Armada to display the new logo. So will this be enough to bring in some much-needed sales?
Nissan is rocking a new logo
Before you get too excited, the logo doesn’t include any major changes. It’s still a circle with the Nissan name in the middle. But the slight refresh isn’t a bad move — drivers will still be able to recognize the Nissan logo at a glance. The change is just enough to attract a second glance, which is probably what the automaker intended.
Still, is this enough to draw new buyers? Probably not. That’s why Nissan decided to up its game by updating the 2021 Nissan Armada. It’s not all-new, but this full-size SUV sports enough fresh details to stand a fighting chance.
The 2021 Nissan Armada gets first dibs on the updated logo
Though the 2022 Ariya electric SUV will showcase the new Nissan logo, the 2021 Armada will be the first to hit dealership floors with the updated logo. Given the fact that SUVs are selling much faster than sedans in America at the moment, this is a great move. The Armada may not be the most popular SUV among consumers and critics, but it’s a steady seller for Nissan. That’s probably why the company is investing in the Armada by giving it some much-needed updates.
“Anchored by a prominent grille and blocky LED headlights, the refreshed Armada’s mug brings a bolder look to the big SUV,” MotorTrend reported. “In fact, just about every piece forward of the A-pillar’s is new, including the fenders, hood, bumper, and badge. That’s right, the Armada marks the first production Nissan to wear the brand’s latest logo, which it unveiled earlier this year on the 2022 Ariya electric SUV.”
The engine hasn’t seen much of an upgrade, but it’s getting a small boost in power. The 2021 Armada is equipped with the same 5.6-liter V8 and a seven-speed automatic transmission that graced the 2020 Armada, but it now produces 400 hp. That’s only 10 more horses than the previous model, but it’s better than nothing.
There’s also the option of choosing between a two- or four-wheel-drive, which will make many consumers happy. And with the ability to tow up to 8,500 pounds, the 2021 Nissan Armada might be a contender.
The interior is more luxurious than ever
Nissan has been around long enough to know it can’t rely on a new badge alone. And because the interior is where drivers and passengers spend most of their time, Nissan has made some major updates there.
The most noticeable change is the 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Most infotainment screens measure around eight inches, so the Armada’s huge feature is hard to overlook. Passengers riding in the back get their own eight-inch screen on the Platinum trim.
The 2021 Nissan Armada offers seating for seven or eight passengers depending on the model. This makes it the perfect vehicle for growing families. The 2021 Armada will probably have a starting MSRP of $50,000 and is rumored to be available sometime in January 2021.
