The 2021 Nissan Frontier Will Outmuscle the Toyota Tacoma
The 2021 Nissan Frontier could continue its tradition of being one heck of a work truck. In fact, it could be stronger than the 2021 Toyota Tacoma. The Nissan Frontier could have the old Toyota Tacoma shaking in its tires.
The 2021 Nissan Frontier outmuscles the 2021 Toyota Tacoma
TruckTrend took the time to compare the V6 engine in each 2021 truck. They included full-size trucks and midsize options. According to their numbers, the 2021 Nissan Frontier could out tow the Toyota Tacoma.
The most powerful engine option for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma includes the 3.5-liter D-4S V6. It has 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 6,800 lb, which is great for a midsize truck. Plus, it’s one of the few options to offer a manual transmission.
In the 2021 Nissan Frontier, you will find a new 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. However, Nissan hasn’t released the towing figures yet.
However, based on the increased amount of torque, and the fact that the Frontier now has best-in-class horsepower and torque, it could tow more than the Tacoma.
For example, the Chevy Colorado has a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. These numbers are higher than what the Toyota Tacoma has to offer, and the Chevy Colorado can tow up to 7,000 lb.
While this is only a 200 lb increase in towing capacity, it’s still a more robust option. The Nissan Frontier has even higher numbers than the Colorado too.
What’s new for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma?
Not much is new for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma, and it was redesigned last in 2016. This isn’t terribly old, but it could be time for a refresh. But on the other hand, the Toyota Tacoma is one of the best selling trucks, so don’t fix what isn’t broken.
For 2021, the Toyota Tacoma gains the limited-run Trail Edition model. Only 7,000 versions of this truck will be offered. The Trail Edition Toyota Tacoma comes with 16-inch TRD style wheels with all-terrain tires.
It will have black exterior badges and a new grille. In the cargo bed, you’ll find a lockable storage unit and a 120-Volt outlet. The interior includes all-weather floor mats and black upholstery with tan stitching.
What’s new for the 2021 Nissan Frontier?
A lot is new for the 2021 Nissan Frontier, including a whole new look. It’s had the same old design since 2005! It’s going from looking ancient to modern and sleek with a more confident grille and headlight design and less body bulk.
The infotainment system will be updated from the old, outdated 5.8-inch unit to the 8 or 9-inch display found in the Nissan Titan. We also hope they offer the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel that’s found in the Altima with the Frontier.
To take on rivals such as the infamous Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, the 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X could gain significant upgrades like a locking rear differential, more underbody protection, Bilstein shocks, and more.
