Hyundai is still earning its stripes regarding buyer’s confidence and long-term quality. But the carmaker’s Palisade signals toward a brighter future. The 2021 Palisade has acquired impressive nods for dependability and offers more luxe features than last year’s model. You might even want to drive off in one, especially if you’re bored with the Toyota and Honda competition. 

The 2021 Palisade is a lady in the streets 

Like its cousin, the Telluride, the Palisade is poised and well-mannered. She has no problem accelerating to high speeds and remains stable on rugged roads. Altogether, the Palisade is ideal if you want a comfort-oriented experience because sporty isn’t it. 

Every Palisade comes with a 291-hp 3.8-liter V6 and an eight-speed automatic. And as with most other SUVs, you can choose between front- or all-wheel drive. The lady Palisade can get up to 22 mpg overall, which is OK for a midsize SUV.

Most critics haven’t complained much about this Hyundai. Aside from not being sporty, that is. As Edmunds highlighted, the Palisade’s most notable flaw is that its handling isn’t as sharp compared to its classmates. 

This Hyundai is accommodating and classy 

As you peruse different car reviews, you’ll see that there’s a consensus for the Palisade’s interior. The Palisade shines because it provides a tranquil cabin experience and lots of conveniences. Depending on the configuration you pick, the Palisade can seat seven or eight people. The available storage space is generous too. With the rear seats folded, the Palisade provides up to 86.4 cubic feet of cargo room. 

The SUV’s infotainment features also make car rides more enjoyable. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Advanced safety is another reason to consider the Palisade as your family SUV. All models come with advanced safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and driver drowsiness monitoring. 

It’s easy to luxe it up 

If you want luxury at value, the Palisade wins out here too. Step up from the base SE trim to the SEL model to get amenities, including keyless entry, a sunroof, and heated front seats. The SEL trim also allows you to further customize your Palisade with the optional Convenience or Premium packages. 

The Convenience add-on includes a wireless power charger and a hands-free liftgate. You’ll want the Premium package to get leather upholstery and an upgraded infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen. The Limited model adds more tech and fancier leather; the top-level Calligraphy trim has AWD, an upgraded exterior, faux suede, and Nappa leather. Expect to pay between $32,525 and $47,750 depending on the features you pick.

What type of problems have owners experienced?

Since the Palisade is still a relatively new model, there aren’t many complaints about it. Furthermore, this Hyundai has earned favorable reliability ratings. There are some quirks and potential trouble spots to consider, though. 

Not too long ago, Hyundai had to issue a special bulletin to address a stinky smell emitting from some Palisade interiors. Some owners have made a few complaints bout their windshield. Others had minor problems with excess road noise and electrical issues.
