As much as I’m tired of talking about and hearing about Porsche, they are absolutely on a tear right now. The vintage 911s and just about anything else with the shield on it has shot into the stratosphere. Not only have the old ones gone through the roof, but the Taycan and Cayenne have also been flying off the proverbial shelves. What I can say, people love Porsche. Well, something tells me the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid might be the next hot model. 

Power, unlimited power!

Let’s hop right in for the big news. MotorTrend reports that the new Panamera will have nearly 700-hp. This massive horsepower leaves the Panamera’s beefy sedan competitors, like the 2021 BMW M5 and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63S, in the dust. 

This all-out horsepower war is honestly getting a little tired. Yes. It’s fun to drive something with a ton of power, but eventually, power stops having any useable value. So what’s so cool about the 2021 Porsche Panamera?

Panamera options 

Porsche isn’t just making this monster Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid alone; Porsche is also refreshing the whole Panamera line-up. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and a new Panamera 4S will also be joining the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid for 2021. All three models will be offered as a short-wheelbase sedan, long-wheelbase sedan, or the pièce de résistance, Sport Turismo wagon. 

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid specs 

MotorTrend says that due to the massive jump in power given to the Panamera, it was given the “Turbo S” designation. The older version of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S with 620 hp was the top of the heap until the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid blasted past with 689 hp and 642 lb-ft of torque. 

The 4.0-liter V8 gets some extra pep from a 134-hp electric motor powered by a 17.9 kWh battery. Porsche says this new battery 27 percent more efficient than the previous E-Hybrid battery. This new hybrid system makes the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid the second most powerful Porsche on the market. The Taycan Turbo S is the only model with more horsepower than the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, but only by 61 hp, according to MotorTrend. 

The coolest aspect of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

It comes in a Sport Turismo wagon layout, yall! This is the coolest thing around. Porsche says both the sedan and Sport Turismo wagon can do a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.0 seconds. The executive long-wheelbase sedan is only a tenth of a second behind on the 0-60 mph run. MotorTrend states that standard features on the Panamera include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (which includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus), rear-axle steering with Power Steering Plus, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

This is a whole lotta car. I imagine the new top-dog Panamera will not be cheap, but if you are wise and go for the 700-hp wagon, well, you’ll have a 700-hp wagon. That kind of happiness is priceless.
