The plug-in hybrid from Subaru received a slight refresh, which benefitted both its exterior and overall driving performance. But how much is that refresh going to cost new car shoppers? Well, the good news is that Subaru has announced pricing for the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, and its base price isn’t all that bad. Especially when compared to how much the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid cost.

What’s new with the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid?

Following the refresh of the gas-powered 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid arrives to the new model year with a redesigned front bumper and fog light trim. Subaru also updated the plug-in hybrid’s hexagonal grille, which features a silver metallic wing with a blue accent. Subaru tells us that the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid’s suspension has been retuned, resulting in a better ride, improved handling, and optimized steering response.

Beyond its slight refresh, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is still powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four engine that comes paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and two electric motors. According to Subaru, this year’s model is the most efficient version of the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid thus far, delivering an EPA-rated 35 MPG/90 MPGe and 480-mile total range.

This is how much the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid will cost you

Prepare for sticker shock. Nah, not really. Pricing for the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid isn’t actually all that bad when compared to last year’s model. You can expect to spend at least $36,395 on this compact SUV, which includes a mandatory $1,050 destination charge. Compare that to the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid’s price, and this year’s model is only $200 more than last year’s. Definitely not bad. Of course, you can spend an extra $2,500 on it, which would give you features such as a power moonroof, heated steering wheel, the STARLINK 8.0-inch Multimedia Navigation system with voice-activated navigation, and a premium sound system.

And if that price does have you experiencing some sticker shock? Not to worry. According to the automaker, it qualifies for High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) permits in several states, including states like CA, MD, and NY. It may also be eligible for a $4,502 Federal tax credit, and Subaru says that certain states do offer rebates of up to $1,500 on the Crosstrek Hybrid. So, you may be able to knock a decent amount off that $36,395 base price.

Is this Subaru plug-in hybrid worth the spend?

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid has a lot going for it. It’s a Subaru, so it comes standard with all-wheel drive. It’s also pretty fuel-efficient and can go as far as 17 miles when in EV mode. Add in its long list of standard features, and it’s pretty hard to pass this vehicle up. Consider that it’s only $200 more than last year’s model, and it’s practically irresistible.
