The 2021 model year is officially upon us. For sedan shoppers, that means sifting through a long list of different options, the 2021 Subaru Legacy and the 2021 Honda Accord included. But how do these two iconic sedans compare to one another? Let’s find out.

2021 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is regarded as one of the staples among its segment. Now having arrived to the 2021 model year, the Honda Accord has a fresh design and a host of new features to boot.

Available in five trim levels, and with a hybrid variant to its name, the Honda Accord can be had nearly any way you want it. Driven by your choice of engine, either a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine or a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, the redesigned Honda Accord has quite a lot going for it.

Slip behind the wheel, and you’ll find that this sedan offers no shortage of features. Standard with an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible touchscreen display, the 2021 Honda Accord also comes standard with a full suite of confidence-inspiring safety features.

2021 Subaru Legacy

Much like the Honda Accord, the Subaru Legacy is regarded as a favorite among its segment. There’s a long list of reasons that have helped the Legacy earn such a reputation. From its stunning good looks to its standard all-wheel drive, the Subaru Legacy is a sedan that’s capable of just about anything.

The 2021 Subaru Legacy has more to offer than Subaru’s iconic all-wheel-drive system. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Legacy has arrived to the new model year with a “larger interior, quieter ride, and enhanced tech.”

The real show stopper though? Kelley Blue Book says it’s the 2021 Subaru Legacy’s 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. They’re not wrong either. The Legacy’s all-new touchscreen display is not only stunning, but will also give you access to news, navigation, music, and more.

How these sedans are similar

These two sedans do share some similarities. Both the new Subaru Legacy and the redesigned Accord can be had with your choice of engine. Opt for the base engine in either sedan, and you’ll find these cars offer similar power under the hood too. While the Honda Accord is able to churn out 192-hp, the Legacy is capable of 182-hp.

Both of these sedans come with plenty of safety features too. While the Honda Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, the 2021 Subaru Legacy comes standard with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.

And when it comes to resale value? You can count on both the 2021 Subaru Legacy and the 2021 Honda Accord to hold their value reasonably well. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Subaru Legacy even had the ‘Best Resale Value’ in its class for 2020.

Why you should opt for the 2021 Subaru Legacy instead

There are certainly some differences between the Subaru Legacy and the Honda Accord. When it comes to pricing, the 2021 Honda Accord is more expensive than the Legacy. While the Legacy is priced at $22,895, the Honda Accord starts at $24,770.

If all-wheel drive is important to you, the Subaru Legacy deserves the top spot on your list as this year’s model, much like all Subaru models, comes standard with all-wheel drive. As for the Honda Accord? All-wheel drive isn’t an option.

But is the 2021 Honda Accord really that bad?

Of course not. Both the 2021 Honda Accord and the 2021 Subaru Legacy make for great picks if you’re on the prowl for a new sedan. Really, in the end, you can’t go wrong with either.
