The 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Isn’t Worth It
Are you excited? The 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro is here to represent as one of the largest off-roading options aside from a tank. However, this massive Toyota SUV has a pretty significant price tag too, and we’re not sure if it’s worth it.
Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro worth buying?
What’s new for the 2021 Sequoia TRD Pro? Not much. The 2021 Toyota Sequoia did get a new color, though. The unique shade of Lunar Rock now replaces the special shade of Army Green used in 2020.
We’ve also already seen this new out of this world color on the 2021 Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Tundra. But at least there isn’t a significant price increase. This model is only going up by $120 and will start around $65,590.
Aside from the new shade of Lunar Rock, you can get the Sequoia in Midnight Black Metallic, Super White, and Magnetic Gray Metallic. If you want to go dark, then check out the Toyota Sequoia Nightshade edition.
2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro equipment upgrades
The Toyota Sequoia isn’t receiving any mechanical upgrades for 2021. So, it’s the same off-roading variant as the 2020 model, just with a different color. Only go for the 2021 model if you like Lunar Rock.
The off-roading equipment includes a front skid plate, a four-wheel independent suspension, 18″ BBS wheels, a cat-back exhaust, and TRD tuned Fox shock absorbers. You also get the TRD badge to show off your off-roading flex.
Under the hood, you’ll find the same 5.7-liter V8 engine that’s also used in the Toyota Tundra. It provides 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the Toyota Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 lb.
The engine is available as a six-speed automatic transmission. There isn’t a diesel engine or manual transmission available. However, the engine is paired with a 2-speed transfer case with a low range and a Torsen limited-slip center differential that’s capable of fully locking.
2021 Toyota Sequoia Nightshade Edition
Finally, there is a Toyota Sequoia trim that’s Batman approved. The Nightshade Edition has a black exterior that’s complemented with a fully black leather interior. This edition is based on the Limited trim option too, so it includes luxurious features.
Also, there is a darkened grille insert, black wheels, black door handles, and a black exhaust tip. The Toyota Nightshade Edition starts around $61,485 for the rear-wheel-drive variant. Upgrading to 4×4 may add a few thousand dollars to the price tag.
The Nightshade edition is available in the following colors: Magnetic Grey Metallic, Blizzard Pearl, or Midnight Black Metallic.
The Toyota Sequoia SR5, which is the base trim begins around $51,465, and prices soar to over $70k for the top of the line Platinum model. That’s a lot of money for a three-row SUV, and we don’t think the 2021 Toyota Sequoia Pro is worth it.
Aside from a few new pretty shades of paint, the Toyota Sequoia hasn’t received any major upgrades. Why not save with a used 2019 or 2020 model instead? There are probably low milage options that still feel brand new.
