Let’s dive right in. You can get started in a 2021 Toyota Sienna for about $34,460. The 2021 Toyota Sequoia begins at about $50,400. So, one benefit that the Sienna provides is the ability to save thousands.

The Toyota Sienna gets an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the Sequoia is thirsty with an EPA-estimated 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. But the Sienna is a hybrid, so that’s a bit of an unfair advantage.

How do the Toyota Sienna and Sequoia perform?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia comes with a 5.7-liter V8 and provides 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 7,400 lbs. It can handle a variety of trailers with ease as you drive your family on vacations.

The 2021 Toyota Sienna comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s paired with an electric motor and cranks out 245 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. This van can tow up to 3,500 lbs, limiting it to smaller campers and trailers.

According to Edmunds, the Sequoia is fast and agile. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. It provides a smooth ride over bumps, has responsive steering and confident brakes. The cabin is also relatively quiet.

Edmunds noted that the Sienna has a sluggish acceleration. But it handles more like a car than an SUV. The brakes can be a little awkward at first and have a grabby feel. It’s light and easy to turn. It also provides a reasonably quiet ride. For off-roading, the Toyota Sienna offers all-wheel-drive, but the Sequoia has 4×4.

Both of these Toyota Vehicles have tons of space to offer in each row of seats. However, the third row is easier to access in the Sienna than the Sequoia. Adults have to be a little limber to access the third row in the Sequoia.

What features do the 2021 Sequoia and Sienna provide?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia offers 18.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row with up to 120.1 cubic feet total. The 2021 Toyota Sienna provides 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row with 101.3 cubic feet total.

Both vehicles offer a pretty good interior layout, but the Sequoia hasn’t had a total redesign since 2008. The Sienna has automatic side doors and a power liftgate. The lower cargo floor may be easier for loading your gear too.

The Sequoia has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment center, but it’s slow to operate, and the graphics seem outdated. It also has 3 USB ports. The Sienna has a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s fast and responsive. It has seven USB ports, an intercom system, an overview camera, and more.

Both vehicles come with standard safety features such as automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Sienna has an available 360-degree camera system and optional parking sensors.
