The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 wins World Car of the Year
According to Auto Blog, the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV just claimed a major victory. It won the prestigious World Car of the Year award. This is a pretty epic victory to achieve. The award is decided by a panel of 93 journalists from 28 different countries.
This is the first Volkswagen EV from its dedicated platform, and it was named as the most significant new car of the year. It was the top option out of 28 other nominees. Other top finalists that deserve to be mentioned include the Toyota Yaris and Honda e.
Also, the WCOTY jury voted the 2021 Mercedes-Bez S-Class as the World Luxury Car of the year. The new 922 generation Porche 911 Turbo won World Performance Car of the Year, and the World Urban Car of the Year award went to the Honda e.
Also, the Land Rover Defender claimed the World Car Design of the Year award. This was the 17th year for these awards. In 2020, the Kia Telluride won, the Jaguar I-Pace took the title in 2019, and the Volvo XC60 won in 2018.

The 2021 VW ID.4 is the first fully electric vehicle to enter the United States from Volkswagen. It’s smaller than the VW Tiguan but still manages to provide plenty of space for passengers. You can get started in one for about $39,995.
With the single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant, you get about 201 hp. But with the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model provides 302 hp. The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 can tow up to 2,700 lbs. According to Edmunds, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds.
The Volkswagen ID.4’s 77 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of about 260 miles. The Tesla Model Y offers an EPA estimated range of 316 miles. You can charge this SUV at home with 110 or 240-volt outlets or use a DC fast charger.
This speed is adequate and satisfactory for passing people on the highway, but rivals like the Hyundai Electric Kona reach 60 mph in about 6.6 seconds. The VW ID.4 is stable around turns with confident brakes. The cabin is relatively quiet, but wind and road noise are noticeable at higher speeds. Also, large bumps in the road can send you bouncing.
