The 2022 Acura RDX Just Got More Expensive
The 2022 Acura RDX will be more expensive than the previous model year. We’ve already seen some of the upgrades and changes to the SUV but were unsure of the resulting price changes. Acura has now officially revealed that the price is getting a hike of $900 for the 2022 model year. There is a wide range of options for the RDX trim levels, so the price can vary by almost $15,000. What upgrades did the RDX receive and is it worth an extra $900?
How much does the 2022 Acura RDX cost?
The RDX is getting a $900 price hike, but where does that leave the starting price? The standard front-wheel-drive Acura RDX now starts at $40,345. Like with any vehicle, the more you add, the more you’ll pay. The top of the line PMC edition will run you a starting price of $55,295. Though the price was increased, it isn’t too much of a jump. It also is still pretty affordable compared to other similarly sized and equipped SUVs in its class.
Kelley Blue Book compares the Acura RDX to the Audi Q5, which starts at $45,600 for 2022. The highest trim level, Prestige, costs $56,300 but makes a jump up to $64,050 if you go for the plug-in hybrid. These two vehicles are both well-equipped, but the Audi is quite a bit more costly.
What’s new for the 2022 Acura RDX?
The RDX of the new model year gains a few different upgrades and improvements. The SUVs grille is redesigned, rectangular exhaust tips appear in the rear, and larger air intakes are on the front bumper. The interior features a few new standard and optional upgrades. Some of them are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Technology models also include an interior ambient lighting system with 27 different available colors.
Speaking of colors, new to this model year are Liquid Carbon Metallic and Phantom Violet Pearl. These two new exterior paint colors are available across the entire RDX lineup other than the PMC Edition. The top-of-the-line limited trim will only see 200 units total. It comes in only two exterior colors, Long Beach Blue and Pearl.

You can reserve a 2022 Acura RDX right now, but don’t expect it to cost the same amount as last year’s model. Though we think the upgrades are worth the extra $900. If you’re already paying over $40,000 for a vehicle, $900 probably isn’t going to be enough to deter you. That makes the design changes and added features in the new SUV well worth the extra money, only since it’s less than $1,000. For previous model year reference, MotorTrend has the 2021 Acura RDX ranked third on its list of best luxury compact SUVs.
