The interior of your truck matters, so why is the Chevy Silverado lagging behind? The Ram 1500 received a total interior redesign in 2019, and it caused big things to happen against the Ford F-150. Now the 2021 Ford F-150 has an updated interior too. But Chevrolet skipped 2021 to focus on improving the interior for the 2022 Chevy Silverado instead. 

The 2022 Chevy Silverado will have a better interior 

According to AutoBlog, spy photos captured the 2022 Chevy Silverado in the wild. It was hidden under camouflage, inside and out, but one image captured a truck screen peaking out of the vinyl and discovered a Super Cruise. 

The Super Cruise is General Motors’ semi-autonomous hands-free driving technology that first appeared on the 2019 Cadillac CT6. Please note that it will not drive the vehicle for you. However, it will provide a significant-tech upgrade for the mid-cycle of the Chevy Silverado. 

There was a green strip on top of the steering wheel to provide further proof of this system. It used a camera and infrared light to determine if the driver is paying attention. If you are, you can do things like Lane Change on Demand, where you tap the turn signal for an automatic lane change if it’s safe. 

Other areas of the cabin revealed a fully digital cluster display and a larger infotainment screen. Maybe it will go up to 12-inches large, like the systems found in the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. Also, the 2022 Chevy Silverado is expected to have nicer cabin materials.

Because the 2022 Chevy Silverado is due for a mid-cycle fresh, it’s safe to expect new exterior styling updates. We will probably see revised front and rear bumpers, new LED headlight styles, new paint colors, and new wheel options. 

What’s new for the 2021 Chevy Silverado? 

Should you pass on the 2021 Chevy Silverado for the 2022 model? If you want a more comfortable interior and upgraded tech, then yes. Wait for the 2020 Chevy Silverado. But if you don’t need those fancy bells and whistles, the 2021 model has some significant upgrades to consider. 

It feels like the 2021 Chevy Silverado is playing catch up, with newly adopted tech features that competitors have already had. For example, it’s just now adding Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s also getting an adaptive ride control suspension. 

Just like the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado is also gaining a multi-functional tailgate. The multi-flex tailgate can be used as a rear step, a workbench, and everything in between, including getting closer access to the bed. The step can hold 375 lb. 

2021 Chevy Silverado towing upgrades 

The most significant upgrade for the 2021 Chevy Silverado includes new trailer technology. With up to 15 different camera views, you can see your cargo bed and what’s inside your trailer. Also, the views can blend to make the trailer invisible if you need to see past it. 

Your Silverado will automatically measure your trailer’s length to let you know when it’s safe to change lanes too. Also, it has a new jack-knife alert, which is incredibly helpful, rear trailer view guidelines for reversing, and a new-split view camera for driving in reverse.
