The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 and the 2022 Chevy Silverado are two of the top pickup trucks going head-to-head for the new year. Although there are some similarities between the two – okay, a lot of similarities – there are a few key differences. What are they, and is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 or the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado a better deal?

How much is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 starts at $32,495. That’s for the work truck, called the GMC Sierra 1500 Pro. This price does include the destination charge, which is a mandatory and non-negotiable fee. It will have a 2.7-liter turbo engine that can make 277-hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. 2WD versions of the 2022 Sierra 1500 can tow up to 9600 pounds, and the 4WD can tow up to 9300 pounds. 

The exterior of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has changed since 2021, with a new grille, LED headlights, and daytime running lights. The lights do fun things like light up in sequence when you start the pickup truck. The interior has changed a bit, too for the 2022 model. If you opt for the GMC Sierra 1500 with the front bucket seats, your truck will also come with a T-shaped electronic shifter. If you go for the bench seat, you’ll have a column-mounted shifter.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has a new 12.3-inch distal instrument panel, as well as a 13.4-inch touchscreen. It will also have a 15-inch diagonal multicolor Heads Up Display. These are not cheap pickup trucks, but they should be worth the added expense.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 won’t be released until the spring of 2022. Chevrolet is likely to officially release the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 price closer to the 2022 Silverado’s debut.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2022 Chevy Silverado are very similar pickup trucks, and should be similarly priced as well. Still, the 2022 Sierra 1500 has a slight advantage with a more powerful engine and better infotainment system. If you’re torn between the two, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 may be the way to go.
