The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Is Only Hurt by Its Looks
2020 continues to be a wild year with the reintroduction of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. With the new Bronco designed for off-roading, Ford went smaller, and Jeep went big with a luxury family SUV. However, there’s one problem. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer doesn’t look too great.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer isn’t pretty
After being teased by Jeep for months over the return of the Grand Wagoneer, fans were instantly underwhelmed at the first look. It doesn’t incorporate the classic styling elements that fans love about the older models.
The massive 2022 Grand Wagoneer looks like someone stuck a Jeep Cherokee face onto the 2021 Chevy Tahoe. Also, the rear looks like the end of a Lincoln Navigator. There isn’t even classic wood paneling. The only reference to the realtor design is seen in the large back window.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer power
If you can get past the looks, then you will have one incredible three-row SUV that combines family comfort and capability. Instead of being on a stretched Grand Cherokee platform, the Wagoneer takes the Ram 1500 platform to the next level.
The Grand Wagoneer we get to see for now is only a concept vehicle, so the details are being kept under wraps. However, Jeep has announced that it’s speculated to tow up to 10,000 lb. Currently, the Ford Expedition has the best in class towing with the ability to haul up to 9,300 lb.
The concept is a plug-in hybrid, but there will probably be a broad range of powertrain options, including the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine with 420 lb-ft of torque and the 5.7-liter V-8 engine that provides 395-hp. But with the supercharged RAM 1500 TRX pumping out 702-hp, maybe we can expect more power.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will come with three 4×4 systems to go off-roading like its predecessor. One of the five Selec-Terrain driving modes includes an all-electric rock crawling mode to tackle obstacles in silence. This beast of an SUV will also have a Quadra-Lift air suspension in the front and rear with a two-speed transfer case.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer features
This is a luxury SUV, so prepare for comfort with massive leather seats that are heated and ventilated. They also have a diamond design down the center. It’s a 7-passenger vehicle with captain chairs in the second row and a bench seat in the back. Those in the second-row seats can benefit from massage chairs.
The fully digital cockpit includes 44-inches of digital screens and haptic controls, including a 12.3-inch driver display, a 12.1-inch infotainment center, a 10.3-inch screen for comfort controls like AC, and more.
You’ll find that the tech is powered by the Uconnect 5 system, which is supposed to be 5x times faster. It also has new modes, such as the Relax mode, which has soothing images of a crackling fireplace and more.
We will have to wait to learn more about the Jeep Grand Wagoneer concept, but it’s expected to begin around $55,000 to compete with the Chevy Tahoe. The fully loaded trims could cost over $100k.
