There are a few significant upgrades in store for the 2022 Jeep Compass. The upgrades could make the compact Jeep finally worth buying after it’s struggled against rivals for a few years. Check out what we know about the new Jeep Compass so far. 

The 2022 Jeep Compass is a real upgrade 

The current generation of the Jeep Compass came out in 2017 as a replacement for the older model and the Jeep Patriot. Some people expected the little Compass to be discontinued to make way for the Jeep Renegade, but it’s held on tight for the past few years. 

Now it’s gaining some crucial head-turning updates, including a new look, according to Motor Authority. It’s gaining a revised face and rear end. The photos we’ve seen are of a prototype that was unveiled in China, so it could change slightly before its debut. 

But from what we can see, it looks like the grille has a new finish with horizontal chrome lines, and there is a new, second air intake between the grille and bumper. Also, the headlights look like they received a thinner design with wrap around LED lights. 

New Jeep Compass tech 

The interior of the Jeep Compass also got a few upgrades, especially in terms of tech. You can spot a new 10.1-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. It has a modern tablet design that rivals have already adopted. 

Plus, there is a 10.25-inch display for the instrument cluster that will display essential updates for the driver. It could display off-roading information too. The idea of the Compass becoming more capable is pretty exciting. 

The 2021 Jeep Compass already provides standard comfort features such as heated side mirrors, a push-button start, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and more. So, the 2022 model could offer even more with its new tech. 

Will the 2022 Compass be more powerful? 

The 2022 Jeep Compass seems to be getting a mid-cycle refresh, so adding more power might not be a priority right now. Currently, in the United States, the Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine with 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. 

It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.1 seconds, which is adequate but not exciting. Also, when properly equipped, the Compass can tow up to 2,000 lb. So, the fact of the matter is that the current Compass is a little weak. 

But a few other countries have the more powerful Jeep Compass Hybrid already. The Jeep Compass 4xe is expected to be able to reach 60 mpg in about 7 seconds, which seems incredibly faster. 

Because the rear axle is driven by a dedicated electric motor, the two axles can be separated to have their torque independently controlled in a more effective manner. Basically, this means the Compass 4xe goes off-roading with more ease. 

Perhaps aspects of the new gasoline-powered Compass and the hybrid will be combined for a more powerful and advanced Jeep Compass in 2022. But unfortunately, we will have to wait to learn more.
