The 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S Is Even Faster Than You Think
The 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S is fast. There’s no surprise there. However, the latest Turbo S is so ballistically quick that it beggars belief. In testing, the shapely Zuffenhausen performance car accelerated and stopped faster than serious performance nameplates like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Despite the bleeding-edge figures that the Turbo S posted, its composure isn’t all that surprising. The Turbo S produces 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from its musical twin-turbocharged 3.7L flat six-cylinder. Despite the second turbo, Porsche insists on the solitary “turbo” in the moniker. We can’t fault them too much for that; “911 Twin-Turbo S” doesn’t have the same wow factor.
What’s more, the 911 variant channels the power of its flat-six through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Beyond its quick-shifting gearbox, the 911 Turbo S sends power to the pavement via grippy all-wheel drive (AWD). Add a 3,646-curb weight, and the Turbo S is a Rennen Rakete.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is fast enough on paper without comparisons. However, in Car and Driver’s latest 0-to-150-to-0 Speed Test, the Turbo S trounced one of its perennial rivals, the Chevrolet Corvette. Specifically, the Corvette Z06, the Bow Tie’s ultimate track-ready road car, was slower to accelerate and brake than the Turbo S in every category.
What’s more, the comparably adult Turbo S outclassed the razor-sharp 911 GT3 RS in acceleration. Still, the lighter, tauter GT3 RS bested the turbocharged model in braking distance and speed.
At nearly a quarter of a million dollars, the 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a pay-to-play situation
It’s not easy to make the $144,280 Corvette Z06 look affordable, but the 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S manages. Specifically, the 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S starts at around $233,560, nearly six figures more than the Kentucky supercar.
However, with proven credentials in every performance category, the 911 Turbo S puts its money where its motor is.
