The Hyundai Veloster is generating a great deal of buzz in the car community. The vehicle offers drives a fun, sporty-looking vehicle, a unique door design, and a reasonable purchase price. One of the first questions drivers ask when they lay eyes on the 2020 Hyundai Veloster is if the vehicle is as sporty as it looks.

The way Hyundai designed the 2020 Veloster can make it seem like you own two different cars. When approaching the driver’s side, the car looks like a sporty 2-door sport coupe. However, when approached from the passenger side, the same vehicle takes on the appearance of a practical 4-door hatchback.

The reason for the vehicle’s duplicitous appearance is what Hyundai refers to as a 2+1 design. Hyundai didn’t decide to go with three doors so that you could use your car to confuse your friends, but it’s because the automaker observed that there was a practical application for both a two- and four-door design.

The advantage of the four-door design is that it’s easier to access the back seat when you’re loading groceries, pets, children, and friends into the backseat. One the other hand, the two-door design is more pleasant for anyone who is riding in the backseat who gets to enjoy a longer window and better view.

Why did Veloster engineers decide to put the third door on the passenger side, forcing the driver to circle their vehicle each time they want to put something in the backseat? The design reduces the amount of obstruction the driver experiences when they check their blind spot prior to passing a slower moving vehicle.

How comfortable is the drive?

Small cars like the Hyundai Veloster aren’t for everyone, but even people who have a lifestyle that’s perfectly suited for a compact gas sipper like the Veloster often avoid looking at the vehicle because they’re worried that the vehicle will provide them with a rough ride while stuck inside cramped quarters. If you like the idea of having a handy, efficient vehicle like the Veloster, you owe it to yourself to slide behind the wheel and take it for a test drive

You’ll be surprised by the sheer amount of legroom within the vehicle. Like most vehicles in its class, there isn’t a great deal of space between the backseat and the front seats however, there’s plenty of room in back for kids and pets to ride comfortably.

How sporty is the 2020 Hyundai Veloster?

There’s no denying that Hyundai wanted drivers to get the impression of a sporty car when glancing at the 2020 Veloster, but most drivers know that just because a vehicle looks sporty, that doesn’t mean it drives like a sports car. The Veloster does. The vehicle is so good that car enthusiasts were shocked when it was named Road & Track’s 2020 performance car of the year.

When you step down hard on the gas peddle, you won’t get the massive surge of power you expect from a sporty vehicle, but what the Veloster lacks power, it makes up for it with smooth handling and a fun ride. The sportiest ride can be found in the Veloster N trim, a vehicle designed and priced to be a daily commuter that offers racetrack durability.

The really great thing about the 2020 Veloster that helps make it an engaging and dynamic drive is that even the basic trim option provides drivers with a manual or automatic transmission option.

The 2020 Hyundai Veloster provides you with an opportunity to own a fun car without having to break your budget. Not only does the vehicle have a base price of just $18,800, but the vehicle also gets an impressive 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway so that even trips to the gas station are affordable.
