In recent years there seems to have been an explosion of interest in the fictional zombie apocalypse and how to survive it. In essence, the idea is that mindless humanoid creatures feed on regular humans. To do so, they destroy anything in the way. So, humans are forced to create fortifications out of places they shelter in. Also, any transportation mission involves having to armor a vehicle in some way and preparing it for overlanding if necessary. So, what vehicles today would be a good basis to begin customizing in preparation for the Zombie Apocalypse? Here is a list of five candidates, in no particular order.

2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab

The 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab is a big vehicle. Add the Ram Box option, and now you have a vehicle that would be perfect for long-distance pavement or overlanding missions. The Truck has room for your non-zombie friends to join you, room for storage behind the back seats, and a place for your fire-arms, chain saws, and flame throwers in the Ram Box in the back. There is also plenty of power that comes from the 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine. Additionally, it has a 31-gallon fuel tank. So, you do not have to worry about stopping unnecessarily to refuel as you scoot away from zombie hotspots. All you need to add is a snowplow in front and a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a swivel base in the bed.

2020 Mercedes Sprinter

The Mercedes Sprinter van is available in a four-wheel drive platform. Consequently, it is a popular choice for conversion into overlanding vehicles. Let’s face it. Overlanding vehicles are cool. The four-wheel drive capability is great, and the roominess permits you to make your fortress of solitude inside. The Sprinter would be ideal for situations where you have no friends and are forced to face the zombies on your own. Don’t forget to armor it up.

2021 Ford Bronco 2 Door

If you need a vehicle that can go anywhere but still need it to be nimble, the 2021 Ford Bronco is your choice. It is not as heavy and cumbersome as a Ram 2500 Mega Cab pickup, and it is more capable than the Mercedes Sprinter van. There are drawbacks, though. The two-door model does not offer much space to carry a lot. So, the Bronco is better suited for quick scouting missions, the kind where you need to get in and out quickly through most any terrain.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

No list of apocalyptic proportions would ever be complete without it having a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on it. The go-anywhere, legendary vehicle has already survived wars. It is also the most well rounded of the bunch. The four-door model offers room for gear and four-wheel drive capability that has plenty of wheel travel built-in. Don’t forget to add the exoskeleton.

M1 Abrams tank

The M1 Abrams tank comes already armored. It can handle speeds of sixty miles per hour and drive in and through multiple terrains. Let’s say your Bronco was used on a scouting mission to find your friends held up in a small compound surrounded by zombies. Once found, the location is radioed back, and The M1 Abrams is launched to extricate those friends without fear of its hull being compromised by anything the zombies can throw at it. But, be mindful of your fuel levels. This baby burns through it quickly.

The Ram 2500 Mega Cab pickup, the Mercedes Sprinter van, the Ford Bronco, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, and the M1 Abrams tank are the picks for your Zombie Apocalypse. These vehicles would be great vehicles to have, each serving a different mission, while providing overlanding capability. It would be even better if you suddenly found yourself with a team that has more than one of these. Your chances of surviving would certainly increase.
