Rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft are having a hard time finding enough drivers to keep up with the demand from riders. Part of the issue may come from the excessive wear and tear seen on rideshare cars. Drivers with unreliable cars may need to take more time away from the road to fix problems or may stop driving for Lyft or Uber altogether.

Consumer Reports says that sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, coupes, and convertibles are more reliable overall than SUVs, pickups, and minivans. So, if you’re looking for a new rideshare car, consider something smaller if you want it to last. We’ve rounded up eight of the most reliable cars for Uber and Lyft drivers.

8. 2022 Chrysler 300: Reliability score of 83

Expected price range: $31,770 – $42,155

What makes the Chrysler 300 a great rideshare car? One reason is its predicted reliability score of 83 out of 100. Chrysler’s full-size sedan is one of the top-ranked domestic vehicles in terms of reliability, and its large interior and expanded rear passenger space make it a great choice for rideshare drivers.

7. 2022 Audi A4: Reliability score of 85

Expected price range: $39,900 – $45,500

A premium compact sedan may not seem like a good car for driving for Uber or Lyft. But, the A4’s luxury interiors, smooth sport performance, and prestige for your passengers could translate to higher ratings and higher tips for you. If you don’t want to pay for a brand-new model, there are a variety of reliable Audi A4 model years that you can look for.

6. 2022 BMW 5 Series: Reliability score of 85

Expected price range: $54,200 – $142,000

The BMW 5 Series sedan isn’t the most affordable option on this list, but it is one of the most reliable. If you have the money to shell out for a more luxurious ride-sharing option, the 5 Series could be a great fit. And, you could qualify for Uber Black or Lyft Lux and bring in more profit as a rideshare driver.

5. 2022 Audi A6: Reliability score of 87

Expected price range: $55,900 – $74,800

The A6 sedan is the second Audi car featured on the list—Audi models are consistently ranked high in reliability by Consumer Reports, so this isn’t a surprise. The A6 is larger than the A4, which makes it a better option for rideshare drivers. Its luxury interior will be more comfortable for passengers.

4. 2022 Infiniti Q50: Reliability score of 87

Expected price range: $42,100 – $57,950

Another premium-service car option, the Infiniti Q50 is another model that will cost you upfront but could qualify you for higher-paying Uber or Lyft rides. And with a predicted reliability score of 87, it’ll last you longer than other, cheaper cars.

3. 2022 Subaru Legacy: Reliability score of 87

Expected price range: $22,995 – $36,195

No surprise here, either. The Subaru brand is known for its reliability and longevity, and the Legacy’s stretched-out legroom and affordably premium options make it one of the most reliable cars for Uber or Lyft driving. Standard all-wheel drive comes in handy, too, if you’re driving in an area with poor weather.

2. 2022 Honda Accord: Reliability score of 88

Expected price range: $26,120 – $38,050

Wherever you find “top sedans” in a list, you’re likely to find the Honda Accord. The Accord had the second-highest reliability rating on the list and is nearly guaranteed to last past 100,000 miles. This car strikes the right balance between price, reliability, and interior comfort.

1. 2022 Toyota Avalon: Reliability score of 90, and the most reliable car for Uber or Lyft

Expected price range: $36,375 – $43,650

The Toyota Avalon was the only sedan on the list with a Consumer Reports predicted reliability score in the 90s. This full-size sedan frequently flies under the radar, and is an underrated option. It’s cheaper than luxury vehicles but offers a more premium feeling than its mass-market counterparts. Win-win.
