Exotic cars and supercars aren’t exactly what comes to mind when you imagine your daily commute, but that doesn’t stop people from trying. There are some cars that hands down make horrible options for a daily driver, like the Lotus Elise, but there are some that aren’t that bad if you are willing to make some sacrifices. The Audi R8 is a good option if you are looking to daily drive something more exciting than a Toyota Camry, but just because there is one supercar worth daily driving doesn’t mean we can be tricked into believing they all are.

What makes the Audi R8 a good daily?

The Audi R8 makes a surprisingly good option for a daily driver. The cabin isn’t very large and it isn’t a good option if you are looking to have more than one passenger, but the two seats are comfortable and roomy enough to make a short or even long commute tolerable.

Buying a used R8 will also ease your stress about adding miles, but the cars are uncommon enough that you can rack up the miles without having to stress about the loss of value.

Driving a supercar makes your daily commute just a little less dull, and can make even the most annoying traffic that much more enjoyable. There are some sacrifices that need to be made to make driving a supercar everyday work, but if you’re willing to make those sacrifices it can be well worth it.

What other supercar lack

There are many other exotic cars and supercars on the market that lack just about everything you could want from a daily driver, and depending on what you are looking for in a car will determine just how much you can sacrifice.

For many people, discomfort can be a big turn off, but others are willing to deal with it to an extent. There are some supercars that are uncomfortable to get in and out of, but once you are inside are just as comfortable to drive for hours, like the BMW I8. There are some supercars that are uncomfortable for your entire drive, and will likely result in a weekly trip to the chiropractor if you chose to take it to the office every day.

Dropping off and picking up children can also be part of a normal routine, and many cars lack the ability to do so for several reasons. Lack of back seats, or at least reasonable back seat space, is the first major one, and that limits you to one passenger who must be old enough to ride in the front seat safely.

There is also a significant lack of storage space in most supercars, so trying to shove backpacks, briefcases, and soccer bags into the trunk, frunk, or down by the passenger’s feet can be almost completely useless. Sure, you can put roof racks on your Lamborghini, but chances are you probably don’t want to.
