Interest in electric bicycles has exploded over the past few years. A popular option for urban commuters and those looking for a little help getting up hills, this motorized transportation mode is popping up in cities across the country. Industry experts predict more than 130 million units will be sold between 2020 and 2023. As the demand for better quality and enhanced performance grows, the price tag continues to rise.

It’s not unheard of to spend upwards of 10 grand for a high-end e-bike. But, don’t despair. For consumers looking for a reliable option that doesn’t break the bank, there are plenty of styles and inexpensive options available.

The Aventon Pace 350 is well worth the price

Bicycling.com took a look at some of the best e-bikes on the market and selected The Aventon Pace 350 as the “Best Value” currently available. The cost starts at a little over $1,000 and offers an incredible amount of features for the money.

The Pace 350 outperforms other bikes in its class. It is quick to start and offers a steady ride that can handle moderate to slightly steep inclines without hesitation. The stylish step-through design allows the rider to sit in a comfortable upright position while operating. It’s not going to break any speed barriers, but for a casual rider looking to enjoy local paths, bike lanes, or boardwalks, it is the perfect option.

Specs and features

The Pace 350 is an efficient Class 2 E-bike and throttle assisted, capable of obtaining a maximum 20 mph speed. A motor exclusively propels the bicycle, and no pedaling is required. A push-button or grip-twist handles control the maneuvering and acceleration while riding. For those looking for more of a physical workout, there is also a pedal-assist option available.

The high-performance Aventon Pace 350 utilizes a 350W sustained rear hub motor and mechanical disc brakes with a safety cut-off sensor. A wide saddle seat allows for a comfortable ride, especially when going long distances. The E-bike has an estimated 35-mile range before the battery needs to be recharged. A backlit LCD screen is easy to read and provides all the necessary data for speed, distance, and battery level on a customizable display.

The Pace 350 electric bicycle has a 7-speed Shimano drivetrain and operates on a lithium-ion 36V Samsung battery. The wheels have double-wall aluminum rims with black stainless spokes and 27.5″ x 2.2″ wide e-rated rubber tires.

How the Aventon Pace 350 electric bike holds up against the competition

The Aventon Pace 350 is significantly lighter than other E-bikes, weighing in at approximately 46 pounds. The frame is double-butted aluminum alloy, and the lightweight design makes it easy to load onto a bike rack or carry it into the office. There is a convenient lock on the battery cover to avoid tampering with when not in use.

Aventon doesn’t believe that one size fits all when it comes to ensuring a comfortable ride. There are several frame heights to accommodate any size rider, although the maximum recommended weight is 250 lbs. with a cargo-carrying capacity of 50 pounds.

Other E-bikes can cost well over double the price of this one, making the Aventon Pace 350 such a good deal. They didn’t cut corners when designing the bike and made sure that the components used were able to perform the task as needed.

Electric Bike Action Magazine said, “This is a good bike for a budget-conscious commuter or someone who is looking for a bike that’s an entry-level e-bike. It’s well-made, has good ride quality, it’s comfortable and has decent range.”
