Kelley Blue Book came up with a list of affordable luxury wagons. In addition to the 2017 BMW 330i, the other seven are the 2017 Audi A4 Allroad, 2015 Mercedes-Benz E350, 2017 Volvo V60, 2015 Volvo XC70, 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon, 2014 Cadillac CTS, and 2018 Buick Regal TourX. These wagons have features like all-wheel drive, off-road capabilities, and some have seating for seven. They also have great driving and handling along with plenty of cargo space. And, at just a few years old, they come in under the budget of $30,000.

Great features of the 2017 BMW 330i wagon

The BMW 3 Series has been an entry-level luxury sport sedan for more than 40 years, and it’s come as an all-wheel drive sedan, a sport wagon, a hatchback, a plug-in hybrid, and a high-performance car. Kelley Blue Book also says that the BMW 3 Series vehicles have nice luxury features and good style and comfort. They also offer “high levels of refinement and safety.”

The 2017 BMW 330i was the last wagon available in the United States from the BMW 3 Series. The 330i wagon, along with the Gran Turismo hatchback, pairs the practicality of extra cargo room with the great handling of a sedan and all-wheel drive. The model year for 2017 saw the introduction of the 330i with a new four-cylinder engine that year. The 330i replaced the earlier 328i model.

The new engine that year was a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine generating 248-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Kelley Blue Book calls it “one of the best 4-cylinder engines on the planet.” It can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds. The engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 330i also has good fuel efficiency, getting up to 34 MPG on the highway and 23 MPG in the city. The wagon, with all-wheel drive, gets 33 MPG on the highway and 23 MPG in the city. The interior of the 330i wagon has a simple but high-quality design and finishes. The seats are comfortable as well.

Not-so-great features of the 2017 BMW 330i wagon

On the other hand, the 2017 BMW 3 Series vehicles still have to be measured against their competitors. Kelley Blue Book suggests the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50, and the Jaguar XE are all very strong rival options.

The 3 Series has many available features, but they can add a lot to the price. While all-wheel drive is standard on the wagon and the Gran Turismo, advanced safety features, a surround-view camera, a hands-free power trunk lid, navigation, adaptive cruise control, and a head-up display are all optional features. The M Sport Package can add performance features like sport seats, aerodynamic upgrades, suspension tuning, and lightweight wheels.

To save fuel, most of the 3 Series vehicles come with a stop/start feature. Kelley Blue Book says it causes the vehicle to shudder when the engine is restarting and recommends deactivating the feature.
